  1. I agree that DCC sound is not everyone's cup of tea however I do love the sound factor and in particular the 071 chip, that said it will do your head in after a while, and a least you can turn it off.I have 071,201 141,and A class chips and its the A class that runs best for long periods of time with that nice gurgle sound. For me the MSB 071 sound is far better than the MM Version from what I have heard.I love having my 071 ticking over in a siding or shunting cement wagons.
  2. Lovely hurling there Tom,hell of a job on the Tara's.
  3. Some fantastic shots there.
  4. back a few years DCC supplies were the only ones selling the irish sound decoders on version 3.5 and from what I remember these take a 8 ohm speakers from which i installed one into 177.However i think the 4 ohm bass reflex out now is slimmer. MM website has a link to the instalment of decoder and speaker in Modelrail in 2009. http://www.murphymodels.com/files/Class_141_Sound_DCC_MR130_058-061.pdf
  5. You can sing that Ant,a full song and dance to get the bass reflex to fit, although worth the effort.
  6. They look fab Shem.
  7. Nice to see a bit of action, thanks for posting.
  8. They look fab,great build.
  9. Very realistic running shed, love the lighting.
  10. I don't know if this is any help but the June 2011 IRRS journal has a great piece on the 121s by Brian Solomon and the journal of June 2010 has another on the 141/181s.
  11. I look forward to next year already.lol Eamonn
  12. Em Walter you never offered me any of that cake!. You will have to keep me a slice next year before Mr Bracken gets it.
  13. You did a great job on her.
  14. Super layout,looking fantastic.
  15. Dapol do a rtr chassis that has similar dimensions to the prestwin. It has nem pockets and runs very well.I don't know as regards how accurate it is compared to the prestwin and on price,as I got some with my cement wagons. The Dapol website shows lots of different wagon chassis, not sure which it is but I can post up photo later.
  16. She's a stunner.
  17. Thanks for sharing,I see nothing on the Rosslare line only plastic railcars.
  18. Brilliant work there, brings back the memory's of these trains in the 90s when I did a good bit of traveling up to Dublin to meet the bird and crossing at Bray and Graystones.
  19. I may try it,as I dropped a cup on my Samsung phone which was fab for taking photos.I have the iPod touch which I persume will work the same.
  20. I loved them as well thanks.
  21. Perfect weekend action on Tara junction.
  22. Sad news,may He RIP.
  23. 125 was very badly damaged, and I have seen a photo of her in Inchicore just in the corner of the photo and all of the cab was gone, however she was rebuilt and did work till 1986 when she was withdrawn due to fire. She was the first GM to be withdrawn and a good few of her 121 sisters seemed to suffer the same fate. There was a time in the early 90s that IE thought about rebuilding these locos such as 125 126,132,121,174,191 and a few other 141s that had bad corrosion,However this was not done I persume due to the arrival of railcars and the downturn in freight. When fire damaged the traction motor cables and the end to end control cables not to mention the body damage,IE seemed to condem them very quickly. Strangely I saw a pristine 130 at Inchicore one year and the next year she was in a mess having been Works pilot and withdrawn.
  24. Hi David,I have not wired up the LEDs yet and I do have the resistors to stick in as they are supplied with the kit. As I am only using twin lamps on one end,the plan is to wire up the yellow and white wires in order to have the lamps on in either direction. The kit is supplied with pilot Light LEDs but I am not bothering to install these. Eamonn
  25. That was a close shave alright, and yes I would have jumped too!.
