  1. I may try it,as I dropped a cup on my Samsung phone which was fab for taking photos.I have the iPod touch which I persume will work the same.
  2. 125 was very badly damaged,and I have seen a photo of her in Inchicore just in the corner of the photo and all of the cab was gone,however she was rebuilt and did work till 1986 when she was withdrawn due to fire.She was the first GM to be withdrawn and a good few of her 121 sisters seemed to suffer the same fate.There was a time in the early 90s that IE thought about rebuilding these locos such as 125 126,132,121,174,191 and a few other 141s that had bad corrosion,However this was not done I persume due to the arrival of railcars and the downturn in freight. When fire damaged the traction motor cables and the end to end control cables not to mention the body damage,IE seemed to condem them very quickly. Strangely I saw a pristine 130 at Inchicore one year and the next year she was in a mess having been Works pilot and withdrawn.
  3. Hi David,I have not wired up the LEDs yet and I do have the resistors to stick in as they are supplied with the kit. As I am only using twin lamps on one end,the plan is to wire up the yellow and white wires in order to have the lamps on in either direction.The kit is supplied with pilot Light LEDs but I am not bothering to install these.   4. That was a close shave alright,and yes I would have jumped too!.
  5. The clear fix is easy to use,and to be honest the weathering does hide any blemishes on my painting. Still a bit more touching to do.As regards a sound chip yes I will get the class 24 chip at some stage in the future as it does enhance the loco,but the funds will have to recover somewhat.

Well here are a few photos,and first of all the glazing for the front of the loco had to be done using humbrol clear fix and using a cocktail stick to draw the blob of glue accross the window frame.I am happy enough with the painting,and some touching up will be done at a later stage when all the windows are in.I glued on the bogie side frames and built up a fuel tank with bits I had left over.The lamps on the front will stay on in either direction.I am using a TCS T1 decoder and have found these good.
  7. I know what you mean.I hand painted my MK 3 EGV and Dutch van And was very happy with them.

It's a long time since I updated my b101 build,as my Ballyhyland has taken up all my time,but at least I have some sort of layout to run trains on now.The b101 body has been hand painted in super train livery and I have installed two working lamps at the front of the loco.I broke my phone last night which was handy for taking photos to post up,so will have to break out the canon SLR later.

Yes it's important the line is maintained as nature does reclaim very quickly.I love that photo of 209 at Abbeydorney taken in 1983 I think?.There is a nice photo of 172 at the crossing gates in Lixnaw Co Kerry on the weed sprayer in May 1984 in IRRS journal.It was the last movement over the line and the train stabled there at the gates while the crew went to the Nearby railway bar for Refreshment!.

  12. You gave me that advice on the deltic chassis it was well worth taking on board,as those Lima pancake motors would drive you soft,and yes plenty of lead.The slow running is spot on too.
  13. You need the a class to be redone with the Hornby deltic chassis which is a super runner and only 36stl from Hattons . My sound chipped a39 runs sweet on this,but does need more weight for better traction.
  14. 184 is the very first of the locos I bought,and I think I will leave her in pristine condition for a change as everything else is weathered.Anthony did a great job on my 156 giving her the filthy treatment and a nice personal touch of my daughters name in graffiti.And funny enough,my fav locos to run together are 190 and 142 weathered by Seamus Graham's which I love watching on my ballast train.
