  1. Nice! I think the ones Brian Collins did weren't dual rear axle
  2. Speaking of late running 071, I heard one last night powering out of Athlone close to 10pm last night - not midnight, but still late enough
  3. Great bit of humour from the driver - legend! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9A4Xy3OWozA
  4. I've been watching a few of the Mid Hants Railways youtube channel vids - especially the 'In the Loop' ones, and anything rebuild. Very interesting & a lovely looking preserved railway! https://www.youtube.com/c/MidHantsRailwayTheWatercressLine Vid of the Diesel Gala here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6gB3Y8PhhQ
  5. Please upload the photo here so those of us not on Facebook can see it

    Fan grille

You could always give pipe screens a shot - don't know how close they are to the pattern of grille on the 071, but they are cheap for lots of them: https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Tobacco-Pipe-Screens/zgbs/hpc/10342670011 Another option could be a frying pan splatter guard: https://www.woodies.ie/splatter-guard-1104390?gclid=Cj0KCQjw54iXBhCXARIsADWpsG8Ni9YrNcb_QiZyAhYD0capGcoRacnEyyUPS1QjmiWkOTaJOxER_u0aArIBEALw_wcB
  7. Not ebay, but I spotted this old Lima HST set on Adverts today - may be of interest to somebody here: https://www.adverts.ie/other-antiques-collectables/electric-train-set-boxed-antique-lima/27222158
  8. That's just pure madness alright! Very clever using a refurbished loco bogie as the basis for the new shunter
  9. Look like kegs to me
  10. I was thinking radio train myself, but didn't know if they had it back in the 'steamy' days
  11. Just grabbed 054 - the dayglo panel one I missed, having picked up 036 previously
  12. Ordered - you filthy temptators!!!
  13. I think it should read Proto 2000 chassis - probably of the EMD BL2
  14. Test run it on a bit of carpet, down the back of Inchicore Works
  15. Same here - blue with the yellow ends
  16. Ok, just seems weird that's all, if you are based in England
  17. Weird that he's posting on the Spanish ebay site, even though he's located in England. You'd think he'd post them on ebay.co.uk
  18. Get the spray gun out!
  19. I've seen lads in a bidding war against each other on Ebay for a vinyl record that is still available from the record labels website
  20. Will these be available in Irish livery soon?
  21. You're not wrong - I remember seeing them on the Silverfox site alright. A google search brought up this hit from Marks site for the full 3 car set: http://www.marksmodels.com/?pid=18517
  22. Serious potential for wave generated power off the west coast, though I'm sure the Nimbys will stick their oar in...
  23. That kinda defeats the purpose no? Even the hybrids - you still have all the problems associated with petrol/diesel engines - servicing filters, oils etc, that you don't have with pure electric. Using the other rotating wheels to generate power would act as a brake - this is how the regen braking works - the motor becomes a generator, which resists the rotating wheel motion to generate a charge to send back into the battery. Solar panel in the roof is ok during the day, but no use at night. How many people actually do more mileage per day than the capacity of most BEVs range? Very few I would imagine
  24. At around the 12.30 mark, the points appear to be set the wrong way for the loco - are they a kind of spring loaded point that the loco can drive through, without the need for the points to be manually set, then set again after the loco passes? For shunting purposes I guess?
