  1. Love the turned bubbles, they knowk the Kinder eggs into a cocked hat. And well up on the wickam, tidy motoring solution
  2. Garfield and Boskonay, much thanks for the shout out. Email me your requirements Mike and we'll take it from there. I pretty much cover every era. Oh and Garfield, I can only respond to "I hear on all sides sneers and jibes at compound jobs...." with "I know Waleschaerts well, he was the best of fellows and a prince among steam men"
  3. Ahh, ye'd want to be up early in the morning to fool you boyos.
  4. I need an emoticon for jaw hitting the floor. 10 out of 10. Great detail. Girders, latticing etc.
  5. Thanks for that George. Converting for 1984 (£1 equiv to €3.50), things haven't changed that much Intercity set £75= €250 currently, Eurostar set €220 (but this 2 coaches not 1) MK3 coach £9.50=€33 currently, MK3 €32 Flying Scotsman £53=€185 currently, Scotsman new version €154 (railroad version €95)
  6. George, great piece of memorabilia. What year was the d'olier street list published?
  7. Wowza!!!! I'm feeling homesick already. Brilliant work with the terraced housing.
  8. Good man Dave £20 *6.5 (conversion)= £130 today so c.€160. You can get tied up in knots finding the right equivalent punt rate for the respective year and then converting to euros. I just use the current sterling labour value rate and then convert to euros. The irish punt had parity with sterling until March 1979 when it joined the EMS. The punt rate dropped to stg£0.85 pretty quickly after that.
  9. take the earbud, die the top and back black, paint on a perma-smirk and voila, Alan Shatter, the perfect Garda poodle.
  10. Wow. Instant flashback to Noonan's Toystore in Charleville. Deadly buzz. Any idea what it originally sold for Dave? I'm guessing £35-40? Here's a 1979 Hornby ad. Sets from £17.95-£75.00, p. Damn expensive in today's terms (£117-487) or up to €600!!
  11. Now THAT is a product line you should have for sale Richie, great job done, and no mad staring white eyes. The detail on the hi-0vis jackets is class.

    MK3 Scrapping

So how many Mk3s left in totality now?
  13. Mighty impressive scratchbuilt tower, I like the RSJ undersupports, reminds me of Foynes tower, which uses rail for the same purpose!
  14. Jayz but 'tis lully. The weathering on the bogies makes them look substantial. Me hat suitably tipped sir.
  15. Wooooooow!!! Lovely lovely kits George. The etch detail is damn tasty.
  16. Gents! The 42' will be out first, but with sufficient interest (i.e. money where the mouth is) I will do the 62'9"...and stanchions. The 42' conversion has been formally added to the worklist.
  17. I got a 4mm rolling bar set from gw models. Total old school. And total class, really does the job. I will be treating myself to the riveting machine in the future, particularly as it enables almost automatic placement (RTFM vital of course). Thanks for the photos and help David, very much appreciated, as always.
  18. Wow,wow, wow. Perfection. You ( and j.m.) have nailed it. Horse on a few cravens and laminates with a durty a class and you'd off!!
  19. Absolutely lovely, full of bustle and little vignettes of life. Though it does look like the guy in the sandcoloured boilersuit is about to take a whizz in the phonebox......
  20. Thanks lads.
  21. Ahh, 1974 would make even more sense then. As said H&S pretty much non existant. I thought that cable under tension was a cordon-off rope!! Yet probably the most dangerous bit there. Why was clipping to the rail outlawed?
  22. That 2nd one is simply brilliant. Pure atmosphere.
  23. Great pic Richie, Buttevant? 80's H&S for yez, with civvies 10 feet from a raised carriage. Mad!
  24. Did someone say decals?
  25. Bring on the empty boxes eh? That truck is a lovely present though for Valentines. Just screaming for some gentle weathering
