  1. Top photo shows a train heading with parcels etc for Larne Harbour. Line to the right was part of a 3rd road for the Spoil trains during this period.
  2. Sorry guys from the photos posted on Facebook earlier this week all the ex CIE stock appeared to have been well trashed with photos inside coaches and Diesel locos for example.
  3. The photos posted on Facebook were taken this week and showed a lot of severe vandalism to the mainly ex CIE rolling stock with many tarpaulins removed or damaged.
  4. Had a look at this at Warley but had too.much to take home already.

Seen some photos on Facebook showing a lot of graffiti and vandalism of the main line stock stored there. Any one know what is happening and is the West Clare running again?
  6. Cracking photographs of Strabane which I have been working on for the last few weeks. In regards to the Jeeps most kept their UTA crest until the end and only a small number gained the NIR symbol as shown in the photo of 56. Good shot of Ballycaryy which is unrecognisable today.
  7. There is a real shortage on the carriage and wagon records of the LMS NCC. Remember mention on IRM about 3/4 years ago of plans by the IRRS to publish the unpublished manuscript by JR Currie of Volume 3 of his NCC History. Anyone out there can help?
  8. See this NNC diagram of rebuild
  9. According to the UTA NCC Carriage diagram book these were class V12. NCC 401-403 were ex DNGR 24-26 and were 50ft long and 9ft 9 wide after rebuilding in 1933. Built at Wolverton 1899/1900 and 403 destroyed by Belfast Blitz 1941 and 401/2 later became 605/6 and seem to have gone by early 1960s.
  10. Must dig out my UTA NCC Coach diagram book out tomorrow to check those DNGR coaches
  11. Thanks Andy that's was comes at just looking at one source before heading out today. Will rummage through my other notes later when I get home.
  12. Never seen a photo of that bridge raised before!
  13. Great to see that photo an ex CVBT 4 plank open wagon was allocated number 228 by the CDR. Interesting.
  14. Thank you this will help us finish our article on Strabane.
  15. Thanks for your advice and I have over 40 photos and nearly 5000 words done already on just the history of the Strabane CDR station alone plus material to do GNR station soon. We might be able to help each other? If interested send me a PM?
  16. The last of the Baltic tanks. The only one of the steam engines bought by Dr Cox for the USA not to survive. Ended up after working one of the lifting trains in Letterkenny. Despite being repainted in Swilly green ended up being scrapped in early 1968 to make room for a shopping centre!
  17. Thanks have access to those but when you try to see any maps pre 1905 you get a blank space on both the NI and ROI maps! Strange
  18. Doing some research on the station for an article. Have loads of photos and information on post WW2 period. However cannot find any photos or maps pre 1905. Even the online maps for both NI and ROI are blank for the area where the railway station is! Any suggestions or help?
  19. More colour photos of the C &L in the new bookazine Narrow Gauge Steam
  20. Always good to see the County Donegal especially anything from the 1940s.
  21. Ok but happy to see more Swilly photos. Wonder where his CDR photos went? Any NCC Narrow Gauge?
  22. Unusual to see the UTA renumber an ex GNR lico but not repaint 58. Great photo is there any County Donegal in those remnants?
  23. Just a pity that the Western Library services with their HQ in Omagh could not find the money to keep the model of Omagh station in Omagh.
