That would be telling but we do have your coal needs covered https://www.accurascale.com/en-eu/products/real-coal-loads-for-mdo-v-wagons?srsltid=AfmBOor2Iv7Iw7nQ0KqOT1dWgP46fb_akb-G-HM_5qz0JcuxYI-8lNkx

The short lived operation desert storm livery.. And the result of such an easy mix up, if only the nice chap with the U.K. accent who called asking if they could have the tanks back that they had sent over in the 60s had realised he was talking to CIE instead of the FCA!
-
The magnesite used tank wagons, but the Foynes to Ballina Coal/Oil was actually 20ft tank containers on flat wagons
-
UN1202 is diesel, UN1203 would be petrol and UN1270 is heating oil/kerosene.. They carried diesel and heating oil for most of their lives, but towards the end were confined to Kero/heating oil only, which may explain the end of the Sligo block train and it being replaced with blocks of tanks on the Sligo liner
-
2003 was the end of the block train to Sligo, the wagons hung on till mid-2005 on liner trains to Claremorris(via Portarlington obviously) and Sligo.. @Maynerhas some nice shots of them tacked onto the back of a Claremorris liner on this thread Oranmore ended earlier, although I have yet to find an end date, possibly early 90s? Rails though the West has some nice pics of the Oranmore flow, including a picture of the empties returning to Dublin via the WRC, Mullingar and Athlone, but I don’t have a page number handy as it’s packed away with everything else at the moment..

Interestingly the third tank at least seems to be lagged. It looks like the outer shell has cracked, and you can see some of the insulation sticking out. Judging by the angle of the ladder, looks like that one took a knock at some stage.

I have 1 of the Dapol ones that I gave a quick respray with a can of grey paint as a test. It was convincing enough, length issue aside that I went ahead and got 3 more KQAs, transfers and the brass kit from @Weshty to convert a rake of 4 of them. But I have made no progress as yet beyond that, as all of it is currently in a box in a storage unit for a house move. The problem of course, is that for a large part of their life(when in service), they CPWs were loaded with 45ft containers which won't fit in the Dapol wagons for obvious reasons.

These are most likely carrying Bitumen Emulsion or cutback bitumen to Road Binders Ltd in Quartertown mill, which had a siding off the Tralee line. Cold Chon manufactured these at plants in Oranmore and on Sligo Quay but I'm not sure where the Shell branded tanks might have been coming from. I'm guessing that the siding closed some time in the 70s, and these tank containers worked in regular liner trains replaced delivery by Tar wagon direct to the Mill. Road Binders and Cold Chon have both since become Colas, now where have I heard that name

And standard gauge wagons piggybacked on metre gauge carrier wagons in a few instances

Just when you thought coaches could not get dearer, or more beautiful
MOGUL replied to leslie10646's topic in News
They are lovely coaches, and the LNWR livery in particular is a cracker, but even at £85 a coach from rails, they are pricey. Plus they are only part way right for the DN&GR boat train stock, which I believe was non-gangway stock. Will be interesting to see how they sell at the RRPanyway, but I doubt we will be picking them up from the bargains section of a UK box shifter anytime soon unfortunately -
They are was some discussion about the DN&GR ones that passed onto the GNr in the thread about the rapido Evolution coaches thread earlier this week.. I would guess the Bachmann coaches may be a better match than the Rapido ones but @leslie10646might no more as he mentioned the roof was wrong on the Rapido ones..

Those are a previous run from a few years back now.. We don’t restock a run, they are a one off. Instead it would be a re-run with new different running numbers/livery variations but we don’t currently have a rerun of PFA wagons announced
-
Forgot to ask Paddy about 071s, but he does have a new announcement for us all.. Hopefully someone will share it on here soon
-
Very atmospheric shots Noel, all that’s missing is the condensation fogging up the windows, with a few smiley faces drawn in it and a patch where someone has wiped with their sleeve to see what station they are at as the PA is indecipherable

Good Afternoon All, After the success of our last restock of Oxford Diecast a few weeks ago, we have decided to get some extra models into stock this time around including some favorites in Irish Liveries(Bus Eireann, Garda, McBurney, Woodside and Others) along with some plain dealer white models which are ideal for customs liveries and Code3s. These are now in stock on our website at https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/vehicles/availability_in-stock but be quick as we have only been able to get limited stock of a lot of the items!

Found a pic, will ask if I can share it on here.. Looks like the 071 coupled up to the DVT to haul it back into Conolly, and would imagine it didn't stop anywhere en-route so would imagine they used the DVT for door controls
-
Not sure if it is the time you were thinking of, but your comment seems to have jogged a memory so I checked over WhatsApp’s.. 11th November 2021, DD set failed at clongriffin quite late so must have been the 20:50 ex Connolly.. 071 on IWT duties in NW was borrowed to go and recover the set with passengers on board back to Connolly
-
My pics, passing Cabra a few minutes later. 084 looked like @JasonBor @murphaphhad a go at weathering it!
-
Not strictly an 071, but there was an Enterprise set recovered by a 111(think it was 8113) from Lisburn back to Belfast earlier this year or last year. Would imagine this was done as there wasn't a spare 201 in Belfast at the time.
-
Nope, the stored locos are 201-205 and 210-214 all in orange with full yellow ends, 224 in intercity and 230 in enterprise
-
There is a couple of their bigger brothers on the way to the coast guard over here in the coming months.. Although I think I will miss the S-92s, even if they do occasionally wake the baby heading south after taking off from the airport.. My sleep will be a bit better with the new AWs out of Weston
-
Both are 8-645 engines, so would imagine it’s the same sound file used for both.. However some of the lighting functions may be different to suit the different locos, I don’t have either so don’t have a function card and I don’t think these are published on line anywhere, maybe someone on here can take a pic of them for you
