Shes a beauty Gareth and a very impressive piece of kit. I remember there was a 201 model in 0 gauge produced years ago by one of the UK 0 gauge kit manufacturers to see if there would be a market for it. There was a pic of it in Railway Modeller with one of the same manufacturers class 59's. I don't think there was enough interest in it so it was never released, and I can't say that I have ever seen a pic of it since.

I remember an O gauge 071 kit being touted on a website a few years ago... did these models arise out that project?

I think Alphagrafix produce a 7mm scale card kit of a 141...

HK built the 0 gauge kits of the 071s , they were gone before I could move on them. Anyone need more info should talk to Chunk Rail in the Wexford club.

Wow,now that's a impressive kit.I do remember

these on sale in Rail Express, however mad expensive.

Oh I dunno, £230 for an O gauge kit isn't that bad, throw in around a £100-£120 more for the wheels, motor etc

A British Just like the real thing diesel kit would set you back the guts of £450-£500 without motor and wheels.

Anybody able to shed any more light on the 071 and 201?

Were the ten 071’s kits?

Who made them?

And who proposed making the 201 kit?

I found this site with pictures of an O Gauge Class 59, built by Mike Williams, which may or may not be that mentioned by @RedRich above.

Does the “HK” in @rimfix’s post refer to Hong Kong built?

Hoping to jog some dusty memories here!

Jon’s are 1:32 and run on Gauge 1 track, so even bigger than the O Gauge. He also offers them in 1:30,5, I think, but can’t remember the common name for that scale.

EDIT:

Found the other thread on them!

I remember seeing some pics of an unbuilt kit Dave and would have loved one. The 201 was a DJH kit iirc.
