It is handy enough to build if you have the time as it is really a box on wheels.

By the way it isn't the right length if you cut it down to the extent I did but it still looks well.

I ve drawings for the fertiliser if you want them. Those freightliners are very handy for scratchbuilding a lot if the freight bogie stock.

That would be great Riversuir226. Yes I had originally bought them for conversion into the container flats but I just decided to make something a bit more attractive.

Here are another few pics of my scratch built fertiliser wagon. It is awaiting the final coat of paint, decals and hinges and locks on the doors. For this I am thinking of using maybe some wire and more plastic card.

The containers were put on the wagons for weight purposes as the MIR wagons curve into the middle which makes one set of wheels on each bogie rise off the track causing derailments.

I picked up a pretty cheap Hornby KFA wagon at the Cork fair last Sunday with loose buffers and ofcourse I would lose the piece on the way home. So I decided to scratchbuild the piece. Not the most interesting of jobs I know but the workbench has been very quiet. I plan to accumulate a rake of 6 of these wagons which will eventually be converted into the Irish timber wagons.

Hi GM looking back this morning over the thread and the builds are all very impressive. Love the beer keg flats, the ferts and the CIE trucks. Those bubbles are also brilliant - well done. Great inspiration here for someone like myself trying learn a few tips and tricks.

HI, The trucks, fert, and bubbles have to me my favorites. Thanks for the bubble Idea, I have been thinking of making a rake of these, but the hinge kinder egg was a stumbling point. Using the ends with a piece of pipe is an idea I'll borrow. Thanks.

Thanks lads. I finally got the SSM level crossing kit built.

Here's another pic of the scratch built beer cages painted and a pic of the row of six cages together being built. I hope the bendiness of the wire won't be so noticeable once they are painted.

Thanks lads. The kegs themselves are made by MIR.

I can't wait to see the level crossing painted and put in position on the layout, it will no doubt add a bit of "Irishness" to it.

Here's a video and a number of pics of the finished loads for the Guinness wagons. Usually these wagons derail with the Murphy 201s because of the 201 couplings.
