Looking well Maybe I should have but I just didn't think of it at the time. I have some wiring to do underneath now when I get a chance. Then it's back to more buildings. I'll update when i have something done. 2

Looking well Thought I was going bonkers, knew that I’d read the thread, and then couldn’t find it again. Thanks for highlighting it! 1
amdaley Posted November 28, 2025 Author Posted November 28, 2025 Maybe a mod could move the thread to the layout section ? I'm not sure if it can be done ? Tony. 1 1

amdaley Posted December 4, 2025 Author Posted December 4, 2025 (edited) I was supposed to do some electrical work under the layout but gave into temptation & did some scenery work instead. Here are a few photos of work done to the back wall & right hand end of the layout. Electrical work is definitely next on the list. Edited December 4, 2025 by amdaley 10 1
amdaley Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 (edited) All electrical work is finished (I hope) so I started on the station buildings. There will have to be platforms of course Edited January 30 by amdaley 11
amdaley Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 (edited) Platform made. Still needs surfacing but at least a start. Next up is the goods shed. Edited February 11 by amdaley 17
Mol_PMB Posted February 11 Posted February 11 That's coming on well. The trackplan will give plenty of operational flexibility too. 1

Colin_McLeod Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Bit by bit but slowly like a train that is stopping at every station. 1
amdaley Posted February 19 Author Posted February 19 Goods shed is built. None of the buildings are fixed in place so can still be adjusted. I think I'll do a small engine shed next. 16
amdaley Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 A further bit of progress. Finished & positioned a small engine shed. Next job is surface the platforms. Not sure whether I will slab or tarmac them ? 13
amdaley Posted April 8 Author Posted April 8 Not much happening of late due to the holiday & other house commitments but the platforms have been slabbed & painted. 13 1

Mayner Posted April 9 Posted April 9 The arrangement and architectural style of buildings reminds me of Peter Denny's Buckingham Great Central https://highlandmiscellany.com/2016/01/10/buckingham-central/ Especially reminds me of the "High Street" scene on Leighton Buzzard terminus exhibited at the Model Railway Journal exhibition Central Hall, Westminister 1990. https://philsworkbench.blogspot.com/2012/03/leighton-buzzard.html. Certainly looks like a scene from the "Home Counties" the variety and standard of building kits have come a long way during the last 20 or so years 2

Certainly looks like a scene from the "Home Counties" the variety and standard of building kits have come a long way during the last 20 or so years Hi John. I've never seen Peter Denny's Buckingham Great Central but I have a couple of books on the layout. I'm not basing the layout on anything real, just came up with the idea in my head & refined a design until I though it looked ok to me. I enjoy the building of a layout more than actually operating it, although i do like to s trains go round. I have another larger layout in another room which is largely finished except for some detailing which I will get around to some other time. Speaking of Peter Denny, here are some photos of a station building I made from scratch over fifty years ago when i was much younger I based it on a plan i saw in Railway Modeller at the time. It was in the late sixties or early 1970's. Nowadays everyone uses plastic card. back then I used timber covered in brick paper with the windows & doors painted & made from plastic strip I cut from some packaging I think ? I know it has nothing to do with Mill Road but someone might be interested. Tony. 6
