I, for one would also be saving the cents for an IRM irish O gauge loco. While i do have planning permission from swimbo for the garden railway, subject to pergola being done first, and a new shed, it is a while off at the moment, 2-3years i think. But will have in time(and money) from building kits, have a hunslet(brendan), 121(kline switcher), 800(leinster), and plans to scratch build a 141 and 201 are afoot. I have a Guinness 08, and another 08 waiting to be turned irish, to keep it all moving. Rolling stock is my shortfall at the moment. 1 1

What are you doing to the 08 was thinking of snagging one from rails. Seen sound fitted ones in 0 gauge for around 300 of the English pounds

Looking at RC for all mine.
Mol_PMB Posted March 21 Posted March 21 26 minutes ago, Darren.d said: Black and tan livery? I think only D304 carried BnT when in service, and then quite briefly. Photos from Ernie dated 1965: D302 was also painted in the scheme in 1963, probably while 'stopped', but may not have re-entered normal traffic afterwards. The tan band on D302 was not as deep, as shown on these IRRS images (you'll need to be a member): https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/54255284994/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/54419865305/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53527323881/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/irishrailwayarchive/53526421872/ All five locos ended their lives in black livery, though there were variants even then! The records are confusing, and I have read that some D class were retained to provide backup power to the port facilities at Rosslare long after they were actually used as shunters. 3 1

Darren.d Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 Only bought fer a bit of fun.will just do a paint job on it and throw some decals on it .will probably rust it up and make a diorama of it. 1
Darren.d Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 235 euro all told.ordered saturday evening delivered Wednesday morning.big shout out to DPD for leaving it outside the door .which they consider a "safe place". 8
Georgeconna Posted March 26 Posted March 26 leaving stuff outside the door is par for the course now. Gotta keep a sharp eye out. 1 1
jhb171achill Posted March 26 Posted March 26 A repaint would make it close enough to a CIE "D" class. Add some of CK print's "0" scale CIE wagons, and you've got a perfect small "0" gauge shunting layout! 1

Thats exactly it.its not meant to accurate its just a bit of fun .I'm a 54 year old child.and I want to play trains.after taking it out to have a look at it. i can understand the draw of the scale.a 141 121 in this scale would be outstanding. 4

Darren.d Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Honestly fair play.getting curves in brass correctly. Wouldn't have the skill or patience myself.

It’s quite straightforward- just get various curved rods and off you go. Secret is to keep the curves gentle and just gradually change the radius
Colonel Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Or acquire a set of rolling bars. Mine are on long term loan from the Club. Seems that I'm the only scratchbuilder of rolling stock these days, so they now live in my workshop.
