enniscorthyman Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 I have stuck in a bass enhanced 4 ohm speaker to 073. It gives a nice bit of extra bass to the loco and is handy enough to pop in. After taking off the bonnet section, the original speaker needs to be taken out,and a bit of heat from the iron lets the wires pop out handy enough. The main problem sticking in the bass enhanced speaker is the fan plate will have to be removed and either glue the fans on or I put a bit of brass wire accross them as I have done, maybe there is a better way?. [/url The Bass reflex speaker can be fitted too,but needs a lot more work so this photo shows the difference in size. The speaker will protrude into the cab,so you have to think if you want this in order to have more bang for your buck. enniscorthyman Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Great work mate can't wait to see the video Cheers Ant,tell me any suggestions on mounting the fan blades?. The way I done it does work, but there could be a better way. Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Actually what you have done looks spot on. You don't really want to try gluing them to the grills as if you you get to much glue on the grill it will ruin the look of it. As I said it looks great as well as the new layout Quote
Sulzer201 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Skillful and efficient work as usual there Eamonn. Quote
ttc0169 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Nice one Eamonn-stick up a video please at some stage of the loco in action on Ballyhyland. Quote

enniscorthyman Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 It's a long time since I updated my b101 build,as my Ballyhyland has taken up all my time, but at least I have some sort of layout to run trains on now.The b101 body has been hand painted in super train livery and I have installed two working lamps at the front of the loco.I broke my phone last night which was handy for taking photos to post up,so will have to break out the canon SLR later. Kirley Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 It's a long time since I updated my b101 build,. Your B101 has had a long gesticulation period Eamonn but knowing your work should be worth the wait. The countdown has started. Quote

Hunslet 102 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 And that's for sure.I don't know if my hand paintingShould be seen in public, but will post photos later. I hand paint all my built stock and while it is not a patch on any of the sprayed work seen on these pages,I find it much more rewarding and fulfilling doing it this way. Quote

Have to agree. I would'nt dream of getting anybody else to build, paint or weather any of my stock. It would'nt be mine otherwise! Quote
enniscorthyman Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Well here are a few photos, and first of all the glazing for the front of the loco had to be done using humbrol clear fix and using a cocktail stick to draw the blob of glue accross the window frame.I am happy enough with the painting, and some touching up will be done at a later stage when all the windows are in.I glued on the bogie side frames and built up a fuel tank with bits I had left over. The lamps on the front will stay on in either direction.I am using a TCS T1 decoder and have found these good. Quote
Hunslet 102 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Nice paint job on the B101,once the decals are added it will really set the loco off.Nice job with the windows,I have heard good reports about this product but never had the courage to use it,is it easy to work with? I still cut and sand thick clear plastic with the windows being press fixed in place,a slow process. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Nice work will you get a sound decoder for her? The clear fix is easy to use,and to be honest the weathering does hide any blemishes on my painting. Still a bit more touching to do.As regards a sound chip yes I will get the class 24 chip at some stage in the future as it does enhance the loco, but the funds will have to recover somewhat. Quote
wexfordloco10 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Hi Eamonn Looking good may I ask have you fitted a resistor between the blue common return wire and the lights as this is very important You probably have I could not see one I take it that these lights are LED'S David H Wexford Quote
enniscorthyman Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Hi David,I have not wired up the LEDs yet and I do have the resistors to stick in as they are supplied with the kit. As I am only using twin lamps on one end,the plan is to wire up the yellow and white wires in order to have the lamps on in either direction. The kit is supplied with pilot Light LEDs but I am not bothering to install these. Eamonn Quote
Kirley Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 The windows look good Eamonn, like Hunslet I have always cut mine out of Perspex but your way ensures no gaps. Must try it on future projects. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 A few shots of B107,showing the hand painted body. I refixed the front windows with the originals as the clearfix seemed to be a bit too gel like, the more I looked at it. The paintwork needs more touching up at some stage. The lamps are wired so that they are on in either direction. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Next up on the work bench is putting a Bass reflex 4 ohm speaker in A39 and rearrange the weights to suit. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 I just fitted the speaker on top of the weights that came with the Deltic chassis.space is a problem and I may try different ways of mounting the decoder and the 8 pin plate, although I could hard wire in the decoder if I need more weights in the motor bogie area, will see how it goes. I plan to stick on the bogie side frames when I get the chance. When I finish A39 I want to start building more SSM signals as I think 2 or 3 more could be made from the bits I have left over. Quote
Weshty Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Looks really nice Eamon, great work done there. You did a lovely job on teh junction signal. I feel like a proud dad. Edited June 20, 2013 by Weshty Quote

enniscorthyman Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Its a while since my workbench has had any action. A39 is nearly finished, and the last few days I have her with the bass reflex speaker and finaly stuck on the bogie side frames, which got a little rub of weathering powder. The Bass reflex gives more bank for your buck, but main problem is getting enough of the Deltic weights in place,so next I may test her and she how she goes. enniscorthyman Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Lovely Eamonn. I also like the refurbished Dutch Van, and Ballast plough.I Rich, The Dutch van is in need of a proper coupling, while the plough van is far too clean and when time permits will get some dirt and grime on them. The plan is to refurbish my 12 ballast hoppers with proper vacuum pipes, and I have spotted some nice brass wheels for the side of the hoppers which I persume let the stones out underneath. Quote
Riversuir226 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Great to see you back at the bench Eamonn. Lovelly job on the A class bogies & can t wait to hear her in action Quote
