murrayec
Hi The landscapers were in on Friday morning to do a bit of tree planting, drink coffee, and eat cake... Everything going fine but we do need a bit of undergrowth between those trees at the bridge to hide the backscene. Then the DART came up from Wicklow and the lads scarpered for lunch..... Oh yes! the specialist was in to do the under-board curtain which is under fabrication and should be erected very soon Eoin & CM

murrayec
Just keeping you up to date, I know the photos are the same as previous but the J10 617 are in these ones, testing out it's new legs n gears, a few problems with the track showed up- 0-6-0 loco is a good engine to test track!! ....and pushing back to Dublin as the DART is on its way.... Noel
Eoin, those scenes and that loco are simply sublime. Greystones has evolved such a high level of realism that it defies adjectives. I'm dreaming I'm 12 again, and just about to drag a mirror dinghy up onto that beach as the train trundles by, its shrill whistle scaring the sea gulls off the adjacent rocks.

Rich, Yes its fabulous. I can almost here the echo of the motor cycle coming up the road from the Rugby club, interspersed with occasional waves crashing on the beech bathed in moonlight under the clear cold cosmic sky, with billions of galaxies visible to the naked eye. Wonder if they have trains on any of their planets . . . the horn of a distant 141 interrupts as distant rail noise heralds the imminent arrival of the mail train from Rosslare. murrayec
Yes definitely trains on the other planets! - back in early days Lowell was convinced he could see through the scope, canals and high speed railway tubes on Mars Eoin

murrayec
CM sent a few photos;- "Extraordinary event at Greystones. 141 failed while hauling PWD ballast wagons, the nearest available loco was sent to clear single track. This was at Bray. The loco was quickly detached from its train, a Steam Excursion Special, sent around Bray Head and successfully took the wagons to Greystones." 617 backs up into the yard Connected up now and heading off by the Breeches to the main line and off to greystones Nice wagons them..... murrayec
Hi Noel One cannot buy from Picture Pride, one has to go through their agents and Marks is the Irish agent- not sure how strict this is. If I told you how much CM paid I'd have to shoot you, and CM would probably shoot me.... Go onto the Picture Pride website and select what you want, then give Marks a call for a quote Eoin Edited February 5, 2018 by murrayec

Sounds like a lot of hassle having to go through 3rd parties even one as good as Mark. A bit like the olden days of money orders, SAEs and dealers before the internet happened. Anybody who doesn't sell stuff like this direct nowadays is trading in the past. I might have a go at making one myself . . . ah as I was typing this just found a few on eBay ranging from £50-85 with free delivery to Ireland. Not as nice as your one but good value.
murrayec
Hi Noel I'd be very worried about what I would get for €50.00 inc free delivery to Irishland- sure a courier would charge approx £30 to move an item that size- not much left over for the cabinet!! Eoin Hi Eoin. The €50 guy is charging €9 postage from UK, but the €82 guy is free postage from Italy. Sample below. They are obviously not the same quality but might do for model storage on layout room wall rather than the living room. Worth a punt perhaps. murrayec
Hi All We haven't posted for a while, we've being doing things model railway related but not on the layout Today we did a bit of landscaping prep- trees! Woodland Scenic armatures, Heki Nature Trees and a bit of Heki scatter The armatures were bent n twisted and given a coat of grey primer Then they were given a coat of Chocolate Brown, a light coat to allow a bit of grey come through and then dashed with black n white here n there I cut the Nature Trees from their main stalks and worked with small bits sticking them to the armatures with cyano glue, the standard green ones were perfect and very easy to fill out a tree but the dark green/going to red was more difficult- it was more scrunched up in the box and fell into very small spindly sprigs. Tedious stuff..... First one The forest Very happy with these and not to difficult to do, 8 trees out of 12 armatures and the box of Nature Trees in about a days work- not going to use the autumn colour which would finish the pack of 12 armatures- the Greystones layout is spring/summer I did have a go at applying the Heki scatter but that didn't go well and I quickly removed it- colour was the problem. But as I proceeded I decided the scatter wasn't really required A misting of matt varnish will be done and then their ready for planting..... JasonB
They turned out great Eoin. As you said tedious work, but certainly worth the effort when you see them finished.

TinTin
Love them . You made them just the way you needed them and you wanted . Hope my trees turn out just as good . many times i have looked at trees packs and not buy because they are not the way I want them .
