Gearing up for the busy Christmas season we see preparations being made to increase train sizes….the first set to be increased was the Cravens-9 Cravens and 2 BR GSVs,

Locomotives 124+134 assist with the shunting as 018 has a single GSV 3189 to add to the rake of Cravens

Also a number of mail trains are scheduled to operate-the first of these is seen here arriving at platform one behind locomotives 160+192 in what is a mixed livery formation from the late 1980s era. The local P&T van awaiting the mail bags.

Would give anything to be there watching it in real time, looking brilliant as always.

Maybe @ttc0169will start having open days and sell the admission tickets here on the forum!

Excellent as always Noel - Love the orange P&T van, my family have strong connections with the Post Office - were they ever a RTR model or customised from other models ?

Hi George, thank you, the P&T van was a once off commission, I purchased it from Ray at Diecast models for you in Galway.

I really like that Suburban livery. Looks the business. Does anyone know when it was last applied to any vehicles that made it south of the border?

Circa 1990 the 80 class railcar sets were leased by IR for the Connolly to Maynooth and Cork to Cobh services

  • 2 weeks later...

When 152+132 were due an exam at the MPD the opportunity was taken to replace them at Tara junction station,

When they arrived working the BELL liner it was discovered by locomotive fleet control that the only available option was 071 class locomotive 087,

The locomotive was duly dispatched and replaced both small GMs-here we see 087 working the Northwall-North esk BELL liner through the station.
