Late night freight at Lakeview yard,

Lots of activity under the floodlights at Lakeview earlier as we see liner trains ready for departure;

From the left

127+130 hauling an empty timber train from Waterford to Ballina,

124+134 wait in the good loop hauling the Platin-Cork bogie bulk cement.

152+132 hauling the Shelton abbey-Marino point empty ammonia,

085 waits to follow the ammonia working the Lakeview-North esk bogie CPWs

017 has charge of an empty two axle pallet cement liner bound for Limerick

Finally 056 will follow 017 hauling the two axle empty bubble cement back to Drogheda having been discharged at the silo earlier in the day.

In the distance can be seen  locomotives 190+184 which are the freight yard pilots

Spotted a lovely P&T van on the platform - that takes me back - I have a strong family connection to the Post Office. Did you produce the van yourself ?

Hi Rush & Lusk,

No-it was a commission from a few years ago but useful when modelling the 1980s era on the junction. 👍

The night shift are busy at the Lakeview freight yard,

190+184 are the pilot locomotives shunting the two axle cement, while the driver of the rail link truck has reversed into the distribution depot to collect another load,

The drivers of the forklift trucks await the arrival of the Guinness liner and are ready to unload and reload the laden and empty beer kegs.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Irish rail,Bus Éireann and Dublin bus,

On 02/02/1987 three companies were formed out of CIE,

To mark the occasion we see an IR day on Tara junction where the transition from CIE to IR has begun.

130+143,080,048,192 and 049 sport the new IR livery as well as 036,

086,161+132,160,001 and 027 are in the CIE livery.

The West was awake last night as can be seen in the following overnight video of some freight train operations.

036 makes some noise as it works a Shelton abbey-Sligo laden fertiliser.
056 has charge of a Limerick-Tullamore two axle bulk cement train

048 has charge of a Limerick-Ballina pallet cement train-both crews are taking a break before proceeding West

The year is 1995 and we see a brand new 201 class locomotive 220 work it’s first BELL liner train as it takes over from the veteran 001 class locomotives,
220 is seen here working a Limerick-North wall BELL liner through Tara junction,
In contrast with only days left in service we see a worn out 018 pass in the other direction working a North wall-Waterford BELL liner.
