It's most likely that at least one of the locomtives in each of the classes carried the I.R. logo with the supertrain livery. I recall seeing pictures of a 121 and a 181 displaying the hybrid livery.

Perfectly possible, indeed - I’d be interested to see a pic of a 121 like that!

When liveries change we always get stuff like that - when I were a mere nipper, you’d see a dark blue & cream railcar (GNR livery) with the “G N R” on the side, and the crest, painted over and a UTA logo and number on it, and in the mid 1920s Broadstone went on using up MGWR dark maroon paint but with GSR markings, until it was used up.

NIR put their logo on several “Jeeps”, over where the UTA crest had been, but these engines remained otherwise in UTA lined black. No. 4 actually ended up with a NIR logo on one side and a UTA crest on the other!

Didn't someone provide evidence that a single 071 got this treatment for a short while?

I'm pretty sure one 071 got it and there was a picture of it floating about.

That locomotive was 086.

Yes there was a whole discussion thread on this, when a photo was produced some posters mentioned ''photoshopping'' which was totally ridiculous, locomotive 086 most certainly did get this treatment way back in the summer of 1990, when it was eventually painted in the full IR livery it still stood out as the IR was so big and out of place, it stood out from the rest, the IR was taken off a push/pull and stuck on to 086.

I took this pic in Claremorris in May 89 (I think. The date may be a little out)

I'm pretty sure it's 086 but it's a bit hard to make out!

Wow great shot-it is 086 and Paddy Cassidy from Westport is driving,

The footbridge was renewed in 1986 so your not far off the mark 1988/89 would be right

Thanks for sharing MD220

018 working the Mk2d set forming the 17:15 FO Dublin Heuston-Waterford.

048 working the 15:20 Marino point-Shelton empty ammonia.

027 working the Shelton abbey-Sligo laden fertiliser.

You have such an incredible fleet of locos, what do you do with them when not running?

Currently there are 60 locomotives on the layout with 25 in storage,

I tend to rotate the active locomotives to work various trains and after servicing allocate the others to a light engine movement around the layout just to keep them active.

And full credit for running them, sharing photos and posting videos.

With all the 001 class locomotives taking up some passenger and freight links on Tara junction, it was time for the other locomotives on the layout to receive some attention.
Here we see a CME staff member power washing locomotive 076 at the MPD earlier.
