The main Dublin show is just over a month away!

The South Dublin Model Railway Club show at Blackrock College, Dublin, October 28th - 30th.

Irish Railway Models will be there of course and we will have ballast wagons and bubbles for sale as well as info in the Tara's.

It looks like we might even have a new product announcement thrown in for good measure too all going well!

Make sure you drop by and say hi!

Hi Nelson

The shows between the MRSI & the SDMRC are held bi-annually and would be considered the main shows in the south.

This years one is to be held in Blackrock College Dublin on the October Bank Holiday weekend, 28, 29 & 30th and is being hosted by the SDMRC

Similar to the Bangor show there will be a mix of trade and club displays.

And easy access by rail via Blackrock Dart station should you travel south on the Enterprise to Connolly which connects with the dart.

PS: The Wexford Model Railway Club exhibition is also worth a visit but it is more of an layout exhibition than a trade show, probably a bit far for DC to travel.

Regarding the DART, there is usually some repair work carried out on Bank Holiday weekends so I would not be expecting it to run that weekend

Thought there would be more intrigue into the comment I made in the opening post about a new product announcement being made by ourselves at the show.

We will have a preproduction sample to show over the weekend at the show all going well and it will be the first place to see it.

What will it be? Come by our stand over the bank holiday weekend to find out! :D

An interesting collection of layouts, including Irish ones I didn't know existed - Dun Laoghaire? Wow - what period, chaps?

By the way, Richard McLachlan will be demo-ing brass coach building and can show you how to 21mm-ise my wagon kits.

If you do want any of my its, please let me know in advance and I'll reserve them for you. As always happens, despite starting to build up my stock in July, people will insist on buying the stuff, so some "lines" are in shorter supply than I'd like.

Just send me a PM or send an e-mail via my website.

I look forward to seeing some of you guys there - do come and say hallo, even if you're not buying - it's nice to put a face to a name!

Hi Leslie,

Dun Laoghaire station is modeled from the 1980's it was built as a request from CIE to launch the first DARTs on the line through Dun Laoghaire - 1984. It has been fully refurbished and will be running some of Eoin Murray's fine new DARTS at the show along with the original kit based models that were built at the time of its first outings.

There might even be an Ammonia train or two making its way to Shelton Abbey!

Thanks

Paul R.

Thanks, Paul.

I'll be able to compare it with the photos I took of the DART there around that period! Nice idea, even if "built to order". Don't think I've ever seen an Irish "Electric" layout - first time for everything!

Just a quick heads up for anyone who may have had the same idea as me but the Belfast to Dublin line is completely closed over the weekend.

Big engineer around Moria station 14/15 and 28/29 October, Spotted very large green crawler crane about 150 feets from railway bridge over A26 road. It could be new bridge replacement?

Just a further update on the SDMRC show over the Halloween weekend, there will be a vintage shuttle bus service between Blackrock College and the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Rally over the weekend starting at 13.00 hrs from Dun Laoghaire to outside Blackrock College on the Rock Road, the service will be 13.30 hrs from Blackrock to Dun Laoghaire. This is for Saturday and Sunday; Monday to be confirmed.

Thanks to our friends at the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Rally for providing the service for what should be a great weekend.

Thanks

But what's the skinny on the catering facilities for the troops? Egg sangwidge and a flask of potato and onion soup in the rucksack, give it that "Warley" hummm....?

The last two boxes of kits (more beets, containers and conflats) have just been delivered, so I'm about to get back to putting MORE transfers into kits (Michael makes 'em, but I provide the transfers). Then pack up the Smart car with goodies which will be transferred to Richard's car for Ireland tomorrow. Think of us on the early morning Holyhead Boat on Thursday morning.

Please remember to come and give my kits a look over on Stand 14 - better still (buy some?).

See you (DV) on Saturday (Sunday or Monday).
