NIRCLASS80 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Here is a link to a couple of pictures of my first attempt at respraying Mark 3 coaches in Irish Rail colours.
Broithe Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Nice - the white lines look particularly sharp and even..
NIRCLASS80 Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 1mm masking tape, a bit of a pain!!
Glenderg Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Tidy work indeed! Is it Tamiya masking tape or did you cut ordinary stuff to size? Richie.
NIRCLASS80 Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Kyosho 1mm tape found it on ebay, worked very well
Guest hidden-agenda Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 First class job as the end result looks excellent.
NIRCLASS80 Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 Looking for some advice, after fitting the transfers/decals from Railtec what is best used to protect them from damage?
Glenderg Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I find a drop of microsol from microscale is the best to lock it down permanently. http://www.modelhobbies.co.uk/shop/microscale-micro-decal-solution-30ml-p-12009.html
Guest hidden-agenda Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Looking for some advice, after fitting the transfers/decals from Railtec what is best used to protect them from damage? http://alclad2.com/how-to/ product 311 to 600 take your pick its not exactly cheap but damn good stuff.
RedRich Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 That's great work Killagan and very tidy. I can't wait to see more. Rich,
NIRCLASS80 Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 The coach is now completed using Railtec Transfers. See images at the below link
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Very nice and a lovely paint job well done
NIRCLASS80 Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 Finished off my first Mk3 standard coach yesterday, images at the links below. Sorry to the purists but I am working on an Irish Layout at the minute so Canada will have to do!
Shinkansen Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Some tasty work there NIR, those Mk3's are coming along nicely. The Canadian stock in the background's pretty cool too
NIRCLASS80 Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 Shinkansen thanks for your comments and also for your very helpful thread on Mark3's which is how I got started, just another 4 standards and a genny van to go!
Shinkansen Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Shinkansen thanks for your comments and also for your very helpful thread on Mark3's which is how I got started, just another 4 standards and a genny van to go! You're welcome. Glad to see them coming together. It'll be some rake when you're finished... hope you have plenty space! Top stuff dude, Tom
NIRCLASS80 Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 A couple of pictures of a corner of my layout that has been waiting scenery for 3 years, hopefully by posting these this will get me started. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nirailfan/?saved=1
BosKonay Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Great photos - love the midland pullman and 082 on Ballasters looks excellent!
NIRCLASS80 Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Well some work has at last got done to the previously listed neglected corner.
Kirley Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 You've got a nice natural blend of colours there. How about some trees to give a bit of height (sorry it’s my personal preference – can’t have enough trees, look at any countryside landscape and you can’t escape them). End of rant.
NIRCLASS80 Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Trees and Telegraph poles are a must for my era.
NIRCLASS80 Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 A couple of images uploaded of my Irish Rail Mk3 set that I have just completed apart from the genny.
rebelred Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 They look the job! Beautiful finish there mate
NIRCLASS80 Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Thanks rebelred for your comments I have uploaded a couple of videos of the rake. The genny van is still to be constructed.
John-r Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Enjoyed the videos, smashing looking rake of mk3s very well done, Regards john
heirflick Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 lovely videos and the mk3 set looks the dogs! well done:tumbsup:
rebelred Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 You got the livery colour spot on, exact colour of the 071, class! It's like 50 shades of orange with my Mark 3's - There are 2 different orange shades on my original Lima ones (which are both wrong!) & ive a couple of Hornby re-sprays aswell. I need to get someone to re-spray the rest of my rake to match my Gen Van which is more like the real shade of orange. Another job for the to-do list!!
NIRCLASS80 Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Well first 42' flat built and sprayed. Needs transfers added and a good bit of weathering. https://www.flickr.com/photos/nirailfan/ Some photos on flickr
