  1. If the same had been done back in the day, how many lines that were taken up would now be able to be reinstated now, and not have had housing estates or shopping centres built on them? A greenway doesn't prevent the line from being reopened years down the line, when it would have to be relaid anyway, so no bad thing IMO
  2. for this sort of thing, http://www.addresspal.ie

    Traxeditor.

Had a quick look - seems handy enough. The Bachmann 00 track codes all tally, though I don't think they have all the track listed (no Y point). Handy to not have to go installing anything, and just run in the browser. Should be easier for letting others take a look at plans & make comments too
  4. Not ebay, but Adverts - some track & a Hymek plus two coaches. For those who are into those hideous Hymek repaints! http://www.adverts.ie/toy-cars-trains-boats-planes/hornby-railway/10004592
  5. They'll go well either in pairs, or in a mixed pair with MM 141/181 - or even single! Should sell like hotcakes. Not that a 201/001 class wouldn't either!
  6. shame he is not on adverts.ie - at least there he could be 'baited' in the comments section
  7. I thought Llan is pronounced 'clan' - no?
  8. nah - a whip round for a non-Apple phone would do the trick I reckon. (Photos taken sideways so they don't appear upside down!)
  9. Prices start at £2,338 per person for the 2 day trip
  10. I went for a Hakko FX-888D soldering station - very good range of temps supported, along with a variety of tips. Price ain't bad either. You can also get them with an analogue dial for temp selection instead of the digital display if you prefer. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hakko-FX-888D-Electrical-Digital-LCD-Repair-Soldering-Station-Iron-OEM-Equipment-/141849297805?hash=item2106e0838d:g:D~wAAOSwxN5WaSeT Temperature range 120° - 899°F (50° - 480°C) Digital display shows °F or °C Maintains idle temperature within 1.8°F (1°C) when set to 400 - 899°F (200 - 480°C) Ceramic heating element and sensor ensures rapid heat-up temperature and fast thermal recovery Password protected temperature setting Pre-set mode allows you to store up to five (5) pre-set temperatures Slender, lightweight ergonomic iron handles Compact design takes up less bench space Wide selection of tips available for soldering SMD and through-hole applications Use with Hakko T18 series tips ESD Safe
  11. Ah right so - just remembered Marks having a sale on Irish stuff a week or so ago, and thought the Mk2s were on it. It was Cravens I saw now I think of it
  12. Scumbag probably went and ordered more stock from Marks after you told him!
  13. Not bad at all!
  14. True! Steam wouldn't be my thing - I'm still delighted with the good news on the 121 front from MM!
  15. two things to try: 1 - Sell iphone/ipad & get an Android phone/tablet or 2 - Turn whatever you want to take a photo of upside down!
  16. There's a mention of it in this months Model Rail. Pricey at £255/£265 though!
  17. I wouldn't mind - the only mk3s I have are the two red executive ones
  18. Hi BosKo, I'll take that off your hands for €100. I'm in Athlone, so if you want to send me a total - I was unsure if the €100 included postage, or that was extra, I can pay using Paypal. cheers, Andy
  19. All I can say is I'll be buying a couple of each livery. If they are as good as the 141s, then they'll fly off the shelves. I've been waiting a long time for MM to do the 121, and wasn't happy when there was talk of them not being done. They'll be sweet whether they run single, in pairs, or mixed with a 141! Hopefully we'll get 124 & 134 in the IE livery, as they ran together so often towards the end
  20. just ordered a copy there - looking forward to it!
  21. No problem - not from the usual suspects (Markle or Video125), so I was surprised when I found them too. The cab ride (vol3) is excellent
  22. 'Off the beeten track' series of three dvds by VideoLines is excellent - covering the 1998 beet campaign. First dvd covers the empties, second covers the loaded trains, and the third dvd is a cab ride from Waterford to Wellington Bridge. I've been rewatching them over the last few days. Available from http://railwayvideo.co.uk/irish-railways.html
  23. I think they were to allow cooling of the brake lines, but don't quote me on that!
  24. I checked in Woodies - €4.70 for a Dremel brass wire wheel brush. Went on Ebay, and got 50 steel wire brushes, suitable for Dremel, for €10 from China.
