  1. After 5 mins using the brass wire brush, there were about half a dozen wires left on it! Most having hit me in the hand or face as they parted company from the wheel
  2. Wear safety goggles when using the wire brush, as wires have a tendency to part company from the wheel & can go in any direction. I've been using wire brushes in my dremel to clean up some tricky to reach parts of an engine block, and wires wear flying off it in all directions!
  3. The way I remember it is Port & Left have the same amount of letters!
  4. Check out this vid from the Netherlands - similar to the German locos, with the wheels painted red & the body in black. Do you reckon they've got enough motive power on this one? ;-)
  5. Try hitting it with a hammer and then getting a proper phone!
  6. Plenty of G scale Deutz for sale here, for those that want to try something in the garden! http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ZENNERSHOP-GARTENBAHNEN/Dieselloks-Spur-G-/_i.html?_fsub=6609059018
  7. Copped that after I got a bounced delivery message. I resent to the above - just checking did you receive it (Andy Skinner)
  8. could be, but even if the settings have too much blue/red/green, I am still going to notice a difference between one and the other, as it is the difference in shade that I am noticing, not how close the monitors representation of the actual colours is. Best bet would be one of those paint sample scanners though
  9. That looks way off to me - the colour in the middle of the strip three to the left looks a lot closer to me (allowing for the fact I'm looking at it on a screen). That, or the colour (S 0585-Y40R) at the end of the strip you have the sample on looks closer too
  10. I'll go for one Weshty - hopefully you get the 8 needed for the rerun
  11. I love the tyre marks on the concrete - very cool freight handling yard that
  12. Well then - go build your own to your own high standards if that's the way you feel. Perhaps other peoples standards aren't as high as your own - doesn't mean they should listen to you and boycott whoever, just so they will produce a higher standard rtr model for you to buy
  13. Nice bit of modeling in the early series of Thomas, but it is all cgi now unfortunately
  14. I'm of the opinion of 'buy it while it is available - no sense looking for it in 20 years time'. I've no layout to run anything on as of yet, but I am buying stock so that when I have a layout, I will have stock for it
  15. I've no idea what the fuss about Twitter is all about! or how it makes money. Obviously not enough, as they gave a good whack of their staff the boot through an email only recently
  16. Rivet work looks very well!
  17. That's what I'm talking about Glenderg! Very nice Now all I've got to do is build the layout to run em on! That said, it'd be stupid of me to not buy stock while it is available, just because I've no layout yet. I have a mostly converted attic to use for housing a layout - just to come up with a plan for one & make a start
  18. I placed an order for 4 packs, with the staggered payment option. I reckon a rake of 12 would look the part behind a 141, along with a plough van or two
  19. Looks good!
  20. Cool - give me time to put some cash away in anticipation!
  21. I hope there will be an announcement at the Oct show. They would compliment the baby GMs released so far, and would be of interest to a lot more people, as they cover such a large period of time. I for one will be buying a couple of each livery variation that is released
  22. lovely work that
  23. 4x Jouef Mk3 coaches from Rails of Sheffield, may be of use to someone here. They are the 8 window type http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Assorted-OO-Gauge-Jouef-BR-Blue-Grey-Mk3-Coaches-/161815558490?hash=item25acf5795a
  24. That Shapeways 121 & detailing pack looks really crisp, although the pics are only of a rendered one. Anyone try one of them yet, and if so, what donor did you use (preferably a dcc ready one)?
  25. The way people cross / walk along the tracks, I'm not surprised. One driver they were talking to had hit over 30 people in his career
