  1. Wow. My dad (who holds a helicopter PPL) trained alongside Captain Fitzpatrick for a while back in the day. I remember attending events held by the now-defunct Irish Helicopter Club with him, and Ms Fitzpatrick would frequently attend them, too. Even though a long time has passed (it must be 20+ years ago now), I can still recall many of the other pilots (all male, incidentally) commenting on her exceptional skills as a pilot. May she and her fellow crew members Rest in Peace.
  2. Well said, Noel. It's a sad day for the Coast Guard and its brave, dedicated rescue crews.
  3. No, it's snowing up as normal.
  4. This thread has been about IFM from the outset. Noel's weathering thread is here: http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/6101-When-it-went-all-wrong-the-rocky-horror-show
  5. We have photos on file of CIÉ-era ballast trains with a plough van at either end. The 24850 series plough vans were only introduced in 1978.
  6. Are you sure they weren't dolomite or gypsum trains, Dave? http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway%20Stations%20K/Kingscourt/IrishRailwayStations.html#Kingscourt_20110209_001_CC_JA.jpg
  7. I've seen a few photos of ballast trains with single plough vans but the hoppers were always empty, and a lot of those trains appeared to be split rakes. I only recall seeing one photo of a single plough on a loaded train.
  8. I've sent you an email, JB...
  9. Great, now this thread has gone Astra-y.
  10. The BUT set looks great, Kirley. Nice work!
  11. I'm waiting for the day you advertise an entire full-size J26 in kit form, JB...
  12. Glenderg built them for some of his clients but I'm not sure whether he's taking on any more commissions for those particular items... best ask the man himself, though.
  13. Indeed, should've looked closer at the digits following the 7. Unfortunately, they're not available in RTR or kit form but some scratchbuilders here have made them to order in the past.
  14. Hi Jim, Studio Scale Models produce a brass kit for these vehicles: http://studio-scale-models.com/Freight.shtml (Second row down on the page)
  15. Lovely work, Mike. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
  16. Warbonnet and I made the trip over on Friday to take care of some IRM business. Mostyn, Liverpool Lime Street and the Forth Bridge in T scale were among the highlights, but the best of the bunch for me was Burntisland.
  17. Excellent work, Kieran!
  18. Hi folks, Just to let you know, ballast wagon pack 1 has sold out on irishrailwaymodels.com. These sets had sold-out previously, but came back into stock as several customers took up the option of swapping some of their purchases for packs 2 and 3 when they were announced. If you are still in need of pack 1, Mark's Models have an allocation. There's a hand-painted sample currently on display at Mark's Models' Hawkins Street premises, too. In other news, I spoke to the factory earlier and we're still on course for delivery in April. The countdown has begun!
  19. Hi Jim, That advert dates from 2014 so there's a good chance the seller no longer has them.
  20. Some good advice here on shopping on Ali Express and how to avoid the pitfalls: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/safe-shop-aliexpress/
  21. Rest assured, Noel, we evaluate our models with a veritable fine-tooth comb.
  22. Looks like an F40PH, JB. Don't think I've ever seen a photo of an SD40 on a passenger working...
  23. Hi Noel, The dimensions on the IRM bubble are accurate. The pre-production sample has been tested on layouts and there were no clearance issues.
  24. Ah, Longford Town FC's net-minder (the dad, not the young fella...)
  25. Arran is C-Rail...
