    MK3 Scrapping

Via @32Milepost on Twitter... Scrapping of the Mk3 carriages underway this morning in Dundalk. pic.twitter.com/tFXEUaafwP; Track & Signal (@32Milepost) February 10, 2014
  2. Good catch... looks like it has a window on the new centre panel on the cab?
  3. Looks very flat to me too... curious to see a close-up!
  4. That's the G611 Deutz... the original post said the new model is of the earlier G601 batch, which have different cab windows, shorter bonnet, no vacuum brakes, etc.
  5. Love it, Richie! Makes a nice change to see MGWR prototypes being modelled... too many people get distracted by flippin' blue yokes!
  6. Nice-looking model! Any details regarding prices and ordering information?
  7. A phrase you can insert ahead of many an Irish loco class. But, has already been pointed out, the manpower and hard cash just wasn't there at the time.
  8. Top tips once again, Richie!
  9. BnM really liked the Ferguson 20... they found several weird and wonderful rail-mounted uses for those old tractors.
  10. You could be forgiven for thinking those photos are of the real thing... stunning!
  11. The joys of living on the 201-free zone that is the Sligo line!
  12. The NIR locos only strayed off the Northern Lines on railtours back then, if I'm not mistaken...
  13. Yeah, I'm sure this has been posted before... lots of excellent photos!
  14. Some really nice stuff here... [video=youtube;1yZveZl-nTk]
  15. Looks so good you could be mistaken for thinking it's the real thing!
  16. Agreed. As with the Mk 3 thread, this discussion is about the prototype. Photos of models should go on workbench or layout threads.
  17. Hi Kirley, that's me! The reason the thread didn't continue is that I gave up on the Silverfox bodies when I couldn't get the cabs to look right. You're right, it's an expensive option. In fact, I hadn't intended on getting the motor at that point... I was exploring the possibility and contacted SB Modellbau to see if any of their products suited a Lima Class 31 chassis. They weren't sure, so they asked if I could send it over for them to measure. The next thing I know, I got an email saying the motor was installed and would I please send on the money! I've only tested it on level track, but it's a lovely smooth runner, and quiet too... it glides along! And the brass motor bogie is robust, to say the least. I believe the Maxon motor installed in it is also used in surgical instruments. If you want, I can post it up to you so you can test it for yourself...
  18. I'm guessing the work will be going out to tender, so no telling where they will end up...

    650 Class

Here's a photo of 666 on the scrapline at Galway. As one of the comments below it says, it's a crying shame no MGWR locos survived... Chance would be a fine thing. by gearlok, on Flickr
  20. There's also a model of CC1 on Adavoyle (or at least, there was when it was shown at the SDMRC exhibition a few years back)...
  21. 3D printers require a CAD drawing to work from.
  22. They're still a common sight in IÉ and Bus Éireann yards, etc. Personally, I can't remember seeing any Bell reefers on liner trains, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did turn up on them. Hopefully someone can provide photographic proof.
  23. To be honest, I think a model of any Bell prototype would sell. You've probably seen these before, but here's a photo of Bell Bulk containers, which may be of interest: http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part4/belu0036266.jpg
  24. I believe one or two did receive the Black and Tan livery... I'll see if I can find a photo for you.
