The Broken Wheel sold out early yesterday. When Paddy M came, I had to dip into the reserve (Family / people I'd forgotten .....) - but who wouldn't oblige a gentleman who has MADE the Irish hobby? Down to last half dozen snails. If there's the demand (Speak up!), another Wheel with a different number will follow. I like the two colour Broken Wheel (which Claire in The Studio at Dapol got so nicely), so I won't need too much persuading. Also an a Bauxite body / roof version when I dig out the photos. Yes please
Patrick Davey Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 (edited) Again the time passes quickly and suddenly it’s the wee small hours….. windows completed today on the station building with only the sash panes to be glazed. Wall assembly has also started and weathered tiles were added to the roof. This all means that the main shell of the building is nearing completion. Edited February 4 by Patrick Davey 8 6
murphaph Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Just marvellous. The moss on the roof is a nice touch! 1 1

I can’t claim any credit for the weathering on the roof tiles though because they’re all pre-printed! From Scale Model Scenery, worth checking out! That’s the basic structure of the building assembled with some internal walls added - it’s almost ready to place it on the layout to get an idea of how it will look. Plenty more details to go however. 9

Patrick Davey Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 The station building has progressed sufficiently to be tried in place on the layout. I am happy enough with the dimensions and overall appearance, although there is lots more detailing to be done before it is fixed permanently in place but very happy with this one! 14 5
Galteemore Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Lovely convincing scene. Just need to get ModelU to produce a figure of the young @jhb171achillin flares taking a photo…… 3 3
Tullygrainey Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Mighty! Just exudes GNRI. Nice one Patrick 1 2 1
jhb171achill Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 That looks absolutely amazing. You can smell the sea air and chipper van…. 1 1
Patrick Davey Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) Clogherhead station building exterior almost complete: roof finished today, with barge boards and finials, also guttering and downpipes. Chimneys were also fixed in position and lead flashing installed, and the sliding doors in the platform side glazed panel were also returned to their location. Just the doors to add then a small canopy over the front door, and a larger one on the platform side. An enjoyable build! Edited November 7, 2023 by Patrick Davey 15 3
Galteemore Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Incredible Patrick. Could pass for 7mm. Very nicely done. 1 1 1
Tullygrainey Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 A masterpiece Patrick. Just keeps getting better! 1 1
Flying Snail Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I love your ability to capture the descent into dereliction and retain a sense of the beauty the building would have had in its heyday. Excellent, really excellent. 1 1
Louth Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Absolutely magnificent Patrick. It is a classic GNR(I) station building. You are setting a gold standard! 1 1
Patrick Davey Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 Work is busy at the moment, but here are some pics of recent work on my ‘Clogherhead’ station building. Platform elevation doors installed and I have added a bit of darker green to parts of the wooden glazed panel, to match the doors. I have also been working on another important item……. 16 2
Tullygrainey Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Just brilliant Patrick. Real craftsmanship and every inch GNR(I). I like the headboard too. Is that for Mr Weaver’s new bed? 2 4

Patrick Davey Posted November 23, 2023 Author Posted November 23, 2023 Have been working on the station nameboard today, complete with a suitable ‘nautical’ accessory! Also been working on the forecourt side canopy above the entrance door. 14

Patrick Davey Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Forecourt canopy this morning. 14
Patrick Davey Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Today’s work is more a matter of convenience. Mr. Weaver is dying to spend a penny so he hopes the builders get finished before things get awkward. Amiens Street have just released funding which can be used to improve toilet facilities on station platforms. I suppose it could be called a flush fund…. 3 6
