Jarl Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Two of the "broken wheel" versions arrived in today's post, and they are very nice. Thank you, Leslie. Those of you getting yours at the show over the weekend have something good to look forward to... Michael 3 2 Quote
Louth Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Got four of the CIE "broken wheel" versions. Lovely models. Thank you Leslie. They will go well with a few of the IRM Bulleid open wagons. Perfect for a mid-1970s setting. 1 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 The snails are slow making their way onto the forum. 1 Quote

Niles Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Picked up one of each today, lovely pieces, prompting one of my Táilte coconspirators to invest in a set too. Excellent initiative @leslie10646 1 1 Quote
leslie10646 Posted October 29, 2023 Author Posted October 29, 2023 Thanks, Niles. I've emptied a boxful of each to date at The Show (close on a hundred wagons). Paul Daly (great exhibition Paul, thanks) came by and removed the empty cartons. He'd earlier bought a couple of the wagons himself. Down to about twenty "Broken Wheels". Thanks to all who dropped by and said "Hi" and have made a little investment. Leslie 9 Quote
Flying Snail Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 I got mine from the man himself yesterday - one of each. The look very well indeed, very pleased! 2 Quote

The backscene, the track, the ballast, the scattered growth, the lights, and of course the dodgy looking Transit sitting suspiciously there. All just looks excellent. 1 Quote
leslie10646 Posted October 31, 2023 Author Posted October 31, 2023 Sean, thanks for posting the piccie. I agree with "DJ" the layout looks great and the vans look at home! Quote

MD220 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 These are lovely looking models. Does anyone know if any examples of these vans survived into preservation? I know that Westrail had one (2213N) but I have a suspicion that it might have been cut up, though I can't be sure. Quote

When Paddy M came, I had to dip into the reserve (Family / people I'd forgotten .....) - but who wouldn't oblige a gentleman who has MADE the Irish hobby? Down to last half dozen snails. If there's the demand (Speak up!), another Wheel with a different number will follow. I like the two colour Broken Wheel (which Claire in The Studio at Dapol got so nicely), so I won't need too much persuading. Also an a Bauxite body / roof version when I dig out the photos. Hell yes, to both! Now, about this kidney transfer, I'd feel guilty calling in the debt, so may accept a few packs of SQ sausages in lieu. Quote
Gabhal Luimnigh Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Arrived home to a parcel from Leslie, I'm delighted with my two beauties. 6 Quote

Postman goes out of his way to deliver stuff for me. Will even make the trek to the garage to find me, if he hears me pottering around out there. Mine arrived Tuesday morning( after Bank Holiday), after being posted Friday. And the wagons are amazing Leslie. I know I have said it already on here, but you can never say it enough 2 1 Quote

leslie10646 Posted November 9, 2023 Author Posted November 9, 2023 (edited) Hi Dave VERY unrealistic scene - those wagons NEVER saw a clear blue sky! Nice pic though. Glad they've arrived. Between great sales at Blackrock (thanks everyone), and "spoken for" still to be sent, I'm, down to SIX "Snails" only. Edited November 9, 2023 by leslie10646 2 3 Quote
