WRENNEIRE Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) Mothers day Special today men. Marks Models threw their hat into the ring with a small run of "Irish Wagons" 8484 A CIE 5 plank wagon 8585 A CIE Ventilated Van 8787 Weathered version of the 5 plank wagon This shows the Marks Models reference number which I thought left a little to be desired 8888 Weathered version of the Vent Van Edited December 2, 2017 by WRENNEIRE Quote
jhb171achill Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 (edited) Nice, but they need grey chassis... I like the fact that one, having a "D" suffix to the number, is intended to be of DSER origin. And they're the right way up. I had to turn the computer upside down and stand on me head... Edited March 6, 2016 by jhb171achill Quote

Sulzer201 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Brilliant Dave - even I was still very young at that time and had not discovered the joys of the hobby - I didn't think there was such interest in the hobby at that time in Ireland - I first became aware of the 'Irish' model trains when I saw a lima 33 repaint with Mk IIs which a friend had received from Santa. My first Irish set was from jouef - remember them as being erratic runners - later on when I began to have pocket money I remember saving for lima; Cl 33, Warship and a Deltic "Meld". A shop in Wicklow town used to do a small run of Lima at end of 70s - early 80s. Great advert here. Quote

Railer Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Still makes them to order, along with the converted weedspray Mk1, Mk3 pps and EGVs. They come with more accurate looking B5 bogies on them now. Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 Rareish Des One man operation so if you are looking for something you might be lucky and he has some in stock, otherwise it can be up to 12 months before he might be doing them again Quote
Weshty Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Thanks Dave, I have one of them, nice to know that they are a little bit special. Quote
Noel Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 John from SF has been pretty decent on delivery lead times for my last few orders on GSVs. Usually less that 4 weeks and offered gentle weathering at no extra cost. Quote
Railer Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 The Silver Fox GSVs are usually around €90-€100 depending where you pick on up or order from. Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 Any idea on value? Value is the wrong word Bobby These models are very expensive for what you get but unfortunately they are not made by any of the mainstream manufacturers so if you cannot build them yourself you will have to pay the price Have a look through his website and check out his stock http://silverfoxmodels.co.uk/ I also heard that he is making some Mk 2f Gennys for the Gatwick set He is also making the Driving Trailer that was made but did not run with this set Quote
Bobby Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Sorry new to this, I was referring to the Lima set, I have this set (not for sale)was just wondering what sort of value was on it Quote
Bobby Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I propose to post pictures of all the models produced by Murphy Models in sequence from their days with LIMA to the current models produced by Murphy Models Lima produced models of British outline stock These were then offered to Lima agent in Dublin, Lexie Tynan He then accepted or refused the sets and the accepted ones went on general release here Towards the end of the 90's Tynan retired from the trade and Murphy Models began a relationship with LIMA that saw them produce some of the first authentic Irish railway models This is their first attempt , set # L105100X33 released in 1997, possibly as few as 300 made. It was released in the Lima Hobby Range line. It was classed as a starter set, It consists of a Cl33 repainted as an A Class # 015 This model had been produced by LIMA for Tynan and was accepted as an Irish loco at the time, the Tynan model was numbered 215. Coaching stock consisted of a Mk 2D #5228 and a Mk 3 Restaurant # 7115 It also came with a traffo and track. 300 Sets believed to have been produced This one Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted May 25, 2016 Author Posted May 25, 2016 How long is a piece of string Bobby? From a collectors point of view you need a mint boxed example including track & traffo and its really only a collector who would be interested A Class 33 repainted to look like an A Class with a Mk 2 & Mk 3 coach I have seen them make €100 and up to €250, so its all about condition Quote
