BosKonay Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Was thinking the same, and then paint it sleeper colour, then a little dash of yellow to remind where it is!
Dave Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Looking good:-bd Cracking work on the 185 Anthony:drool:

Broithe Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Beautiful photo Broithe Not mine - stolen..
Sulzer201 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Lovely track geometry and flowing lines there Boskonay. 185 is one of the most realistic looking model locos I have ever seen.
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 185 is one of the most realistic looking model locos I have ever seen. Ahhhh stop your making me blush
BosKonay Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Is that even possible? What til you see her sisters ! (185's that is!)
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Is that even possible? Of course it is
Guest hidden-agenda Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) As you can see in the last photo, I also fitted two more point motors under the board for the double slip. Next, I tested the freight sidings for length - with a rake of 12 of Hidden Agenda's 46' Container Flats! I almost forgot to say the decals are available from Steve at Rail-tec and are a credit to the guy.He now does a full range of wagon decals and i cant recommend them enough . http://www.railtec-models.com/catalog.php?search_str=irish Edited November 13, 2012 by hidden-agenda
BosKonay Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Some updates , a mock up of the track work for 'Blackrock Road' preservationists station and depot off a branch...
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Stephen what make is that station building as I have one I don't remember where I got it or any info on it. The layouts looking great and really starting to take shape more pics please.
BosKonay Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Cheers Anthony The station is a Hornby item, iirc, its a thomas the tank engine station Will have a check The next phase (arriving thursday) will cut through the wall to the right behind the signal box, and cross the stairwell with a giant suspension bridge (and yes, I'm rather looking forward to that!!! )
Broithe Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 http://www.ehattons.com/23310/Hornby_Model_Railways_R9262_Great_Waterton_Station/StockDetail.aspx ?
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 @ Stephen and Broithe. Thanks Lads
BosKonay Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Cheers Broithe - it's unusual (and useful) in that the station building is platform height on one side and 'street level' of the other
Broithe Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Cheers Broithe - it's unusual (and useful) in that the station building is platform height on one side and 'street level' of the other Like Portlaoise - but not quite such a difference..?
BosKonay Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Can you tell what it is yet ? Couldn't resist posting a sneak preview
Glenderg Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 It ain't part financed by the EU, that's for sure!
Garfield Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Can you tell what it is yet ? Couldn't resist posting a sneak preview Yep... and it looks fab!
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Is it the Shed to the side of Connolly
Glenderg Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Yeah, need to add the refuelling lines, fuse boxes, fire extinguishers, window cills. It was supposed to be on the main board, but the town planner decided it was in need at the restoration depot! I'll have some snaps up on my workbench later.
BabyGM Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Brilliant work in the shed The detail is stunning
BosKonay Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Glenderg the genius strikes again Here's a few updates of the now open air fueling point opposite platform 5
Glenderg Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Very very tidy work Bosko. I like your approach to this, a lot like gardening - little and often!
David Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Looking good Stephen. Which ballast did you use for that section?
BosKonay Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Cheers I think that's why I'm actually enjoying quite a large layout. If I'm in the mood I'll lay a little track, or program some point motors, or ballast a siding, or fit some uncouplers (or wreck some platforms ) or lay some more track, or play with some scenics, or do some wiring, etc I get an hour here, an hour there, and means it's always something different to keep the head The ballast there is the gaugemaster granite (which may be a re-bagged noch offering). I definitely prefer it to other options, and it goes down very well. A good spray of muck and it should look quite irish The hardstanding has been painted with Woodlands scenics 'concrete top coat' which looks ok, but is quite cream. Needs lots of weathering and staining methinks. I also need to figure out how to stop the staff falling into the pit
BosKonay Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I need to paint those buffer stops red too - anyone know what kind of paint colour will yield that bright, almost dayglo effect ?
Glenderg Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Any of the reds from Games Workshop are super saturated. (Liffey Street) There are only two if I remember, and mixed they are perfect. I'll get you the name later.
BosKonay Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Sweet, will check it out Was thinking I'd outline the servicing pit in red too, H&S an' all
Garfield Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Humbrol also produce a specific 'dayglo' paint, too... http://bit.ly/RCMuxE
Broithe Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Also available in tinlets - http://www.humbrol.com/paints/all-paints/aa7105-209-fluorescent-fire-orange-14ml-gloss-enamel-tinlet/ - for small jobs.. There's a few different shades, I believe. Often available in fishing tackle shops for tarting up floats.
