Noel Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 (edited) The postman brought a Park Royal coach today from IFM. Yipee - its superb. Congrats to Tom for producing such a gem. Park Royal right at home with cravens I'm a really thrilled with this coach. Top class model. The poor phone photo doesn't do it justice. Will take a proper daylight pic tomorrow. Glenderg Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Will take a proper daylight pic tomorrow. Do please, orange is the new tan, after all. Quote
burnthebox Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 What a beauty, & yes she do's look at home right there among the cravens, well done, Quote
DiveController Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Nice but expensive coaches:trains: Quote
leslie10646 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Nice but expensive coaches:trains: Come on, Defender of the Alamo, these are handmade rarities, not your "build them by the tens of thousands" box cars! Like Noel, I think they're very nice - mine is in green (obviously - for the World ended about 1970) - and I've two more on order. Quote
Noel Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 Nice but expensive coaches:trains: But definitely worth it. They are unique hand build scale models of an iconic coach that ran on Irish rails for many decades. Park Royals with their distinctive shape really add character to a coach formation and a layout. I'll post a few more pics later. The build quality is excellent. I wasn't sure what to expect as sometimes 'specialist' low volume kits and custom RTR stock can fall a somewhat behind the quality of major manufacturers, but certainly not in this case. My expectations were exceeded and I will be ordering more now that I have received this first sample and it has measured up. Quote
Weshty Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Paul Reynolds showed me one in the flesh and I was well impressed. Nice build quality, captures the shape well and generally will look righteous behind a class A, with a Mayner Tin van close by. Their unique selling proposition is all the better when the alternative is to build a Worsely Works scratch aid version. It's a fine piece of etch but does require independantly sourcing a roof, bogies and wheels, buffers, roof vents, transfers, paints, couplers, seating, glazing, wiring and gangway detailing. And this is now a lot harder with Comet Models in hiatus. Well up on your purchase Noel, though some "gently owned" weathering would be the cherry on the cake. Quote

Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Have a couple myself. Fantastic models that really capture the look and feel of the real coaches. Well done Tom Brady (IFM) keep up the great work. Quote
dave182 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Lovely, and great to hear the positive feedback. Am planning to order some in the near future. Quote
BosKonay Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Fair play Tom! A few are on my 'to do' also! Quote
Noel Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) Apologies for the out of focus pics and awful DOF, was rushing and didn't have time to change lens. But you can get the general view of the Park Royal. She will receive a bit of mild weathering over the winter. A black 141 seems the right partner for Park Royal, or a black & tan 001. 183 approaching platform 3 Atmospheric blur - DOF very very narrow Edited July 21, 2017 by Noel PhotoBucket - Bye bye! Quote
Mayner Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I like the 3/4 view the model really captures the look of these coaches. The IFM Park Royals look like good layout coaches and are reasonably priced for what they are and fill a huge gap in the rtr/easy to build market. To a degree comparing the IFM & Worsley Works Park Royals is like comparing apples and oranges. The IFM model is aimed at the modeller/collector who wants a coach that looks like a Park Royal, rather than someone who wants to build a scale model of a Park Royal. Quote
Georgeconna Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Looks Great, is there seating in them? At 90 slobs a pop I will be holding off a while unfortunately. Quote

Isn't that the blue seating that you really like in the Cravens ealy livery... Quote
enniscorthyman Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 They are a nice job indeed.Well done IFM, I hope to get one or two around Christmas. Quote
