thewanderer Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Evening all, I was confined to Co. Laois today while all the fun was being had in Co. Meath & Co. Louth with the MKIV Gauging trial to Dundalk. Sean Cain and Lar Griffin have kindly contributed photos to the website of the days events. I did manage to photograph 206 in its new "Enterprise" livery at Portarlington with the 1140 Ballina - North Wall IWT Liner. All the pictures from the day start at http://smu.gs/1Cy0bYS The Wanderer. Noel Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Nice photos. 206 in that livery looks so much better running that cab first which is probably the opposite to the design intentions. Quote

Some drink to excess yet I (19) don't touch any of it, or drugs, or smoking. That means we are all not trusted, especially in groups. It only takes a few. (Nothing against you Heirflick, as I haven't seen the video!) EDIT Prehaps the last few posts could be deleted, since the original post has been deleted? Edited March 20, 2015 by hurricanemk1c Quote

hurricanemk1c Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Exactly John - everything is about how to get the shot, as much as what's in it. Just got to keep an eye out Quote

It is refreshing to have an exceptional authorized teenager advise us on these risk management issues:rolleyes: Prehaps the last few posts could be deleted, since the original post has been deleted? That would probably be an ecumenical matter (aka at the discretion of the Moderator) ......... maybe less finger wagging would avoid the need for the request? That said, you do put up some great shots here and I do enjoy them:) Quote

That said, you do put up some great shots here and I do enjoy them:) There's no need to be smart Kevin, he's just offering a point of view. One as a fledgling photographer I do agree with. I dont want IE to start cracking down on us all. Considering it was an IE employee who pointed it out in the first place I think we should all take note. Anyway, a pic from me from the platform of Clondalkin/Fonthill. Top and Tail 071s on the HOBs. A few others are on my flickr page. 085 HOBS 2 by franburke, on Flickr Quote

That said, you do put up some great shots here and I do enjoy them:) Hes an excellent railway photographer at that. Always found IE employees very helpful for getting the "shot", this could change if people go where their not allowed. All it takes is one accident or near miss and things could change forever. Quote
Broithe Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 You can get quite a lot of interference over here, in all sorts of situations, from people who will decide that you can be treated as a potential terrorist - http://www.digitalcameraworld.com/2012/04/14/photographers-rights-the-ultimate-guide/ - you can't even directly ring a station here, just national call-centres. It's dropped off a bit in recent years, but you do need to know the real rules and stand your ground. Quote

heirflick Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Always found IE employees very helpful for getting the "shot" indeed they are extremely helpful to those of us that have an interest in the railways - at least that has always been my experience. But there is always the scenario where out of the goodness of his heart, a member allows you to enter a facility to take a shot, the image is published for the benefit of a group like ours, then its questioned, you then say in your defence that you did in fact have permission - resulting in that member getting an earful! rotten scenario.....just saying. Quote
Broithe Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 thanks for that Jim, food for thought indeed. You can find yourself in this situation - it's often about them "being seen to be doing something" and then being reluctant to back down when their lack of lawful authority is challenged. You've probably got rather less of this sort of problem over there. It can be a lot worse than this. Quote
