1/32 Scale Mountfleet Round Table Minesweeper
Georgeconna replied to Georgeconna's topic in Aviation & Maritime Modelling
Slowly working away on this now the nights are a bit warmer! Tried a few different grey paint on this one and will settle of the grey shown here. I have put down a floor and scribed the floor boards on the ply and the Steering wheel and Steam powered wheel is installed and I will add some details in the wheel house walls to add a bit of interest not that there was much in there anyhow! The Hand Rails took flipping ages to get right, Lots of curves and bends plus the White metal handrails were pretty badly molded. A new Flag locker was made as the one laid out on the plans was too small. I either did not get the white metal steering arm or lost it so a plastic one was attached to the Rudder post, Hope it holds! The Searchlight platform was also constructed.- 102 replies

Bridehurst - SR Region 3rd Rail - Now no more.
Georgeconna replied to Georgeconna's topic in British Outline Modelling
Nah they worked grand except for that little (big) Problem , nice an quiet, no Massive Thuds and yes there is wires but you don't have to rely on a crappy microswitch to change the frog polarity. ah well. -
Bridehurst - SR Region 3rd Rail - Now no more.
Georgeconna replied to Georgeconna's topic in British Outline Modelling
Will I am Glad I did not Progress fast on this one, Turns out all the digital Cobalts I got have to go back for repair as they kept losing their addresses every time there was a short, all off them (13) bar 2 had to be re-adressesed each time, Right PITA. Some Component was snuck in apparently that was defective which was causing this to happen. This should be fun with Brexit.... -
009 I'd say for Marks one by the looks of it.

Has there been any OO/HO model trains produced with operational doors?
Georgeconna replied to ShaneC's question in Questions & Answers
Saw that in the Flesh in Dortmund, Fantastic Layout, The Little Lad playing trains in the fore ground, different scales then for the forced Prospective. The Farrier bashing away and course the disappearing Passenger at the Halt. Sumblime. -

Hornby 2021 - They Nail it again!
Georgeconna replied to Georgeconna's topic in British Outline Modelling
Ah Hold on here! Rails, Firstly A Shop tried to make a quick buck off of the Hornby Rocket with a 3rd Class Coach, The come in with a Terrier too, something the big H had already in their inventory that needed upgrading They got Burnt (nothings exclusive mind) Hattons, firstly a Shop tried to muscle in with a some might say Problematic wobbly Class 66, They got brunt Kernow , also a Shop have carved in a nice little Niche with their products, No Conflict. Hornby stick to making their stuff and also selling it at high RRP prices on their web site or through discount through the shops. Now we have 'Lion', Rapido who do for sure make great products (can't Fault the APT- E and Stirling Single I have) decide to drop into Kinda of ERA 1 with the Lion / Thunderbolt (Titfield Thunderbolt) even though Hornby have form with the Fabtastic Rocket and suitable Stock and have bashed out a Titfield Train set already, This is fine with me as I have 2 products to Choose from, Keeps cost reasonable and I don't have to pay now for something I might get in 2022. Rapido or Hornby though, which one to go for. Hornby are protecting their jobs and as you say the Brand. Its got History, The have the Factories to combat these 'Pretenders' There is only one, there's plenty of shops. Its up to you to choose where you go at the end of the day. No company is perfect to deal with that's for sure but you can be properly look after with Spares etc where good luck in Getting Spares for your Hattons 66 in years to come. Same with Baccy Great for spares. I Like Hornby, Hornby has been with me since the 1970 to late 80s when I could run a HST, Short coaches and LNER Plasticky teaks in a rake with no care in the world, Airfix too and Scalextric. Now they cover a lot of SR stuff where my interest lies. Business is Business, its dog eat dog, the fittest survive. In Case anyone has not seen the Titfield Thunderbolt it is well worth sitting down with a cuppa for the Carry on not to Mind the opening scene!! -
Weathering suggestions for Mk2/3 coaches
Georgeconna replied to Bumble_Bee's question in Questions & Answers
Why don't you get the same tubes in Windsor and Newton oil paints and thinners from a Local Art shop. You get more paint, costs less and does not have all that fancy packaging. All you have to do is mix it. I must admit Mig J certainly nails the Marketing on his products. -

Nice news to see MM is alive and Kicking Just Hope to hell that the plans don't include an Avalanche of all of these products 2 weeks before xmas 2021 and they are released in a nice steady fashion. Nice for the lads who aint got 201s, I 'd say I am pretty much maxed out with locos at this stage.. Gonna Draw the line at the orange Era TBH. Too much stuff as it is!

Shame Kid, Looked excellent too but I get to that point several times a year! Sit back take a breadth and reset! I had massive issues with Digital Cobalts losing addresses. Had some points ballasted and ended up taking those up to check I removed the Frog Wire to isolate it , in the end I did have them done correct. Seems I have to send back the 18 I bought as there was a issue with that batch. Now with poxy brexit this should be fun getting these across and back with out getting caught for Vat.

Noel, Are sure sure you aint got a 009 layout on the go there!! They look like something Peco would have in their Catalogue. Cute Aren't They! -
There a Goods Value Ceiling of goods you can bring in now from the UK so just be aware of that if they do get checked they could end up forking up a few bob to Revenue.

I have a Jinty if you are interested. Never ran. BNIB. Not My area of interest 32-255Z No .18 €110 notes posted if that suits in Ireland. EDIT Jinty is out the gap now. -
Some Sellers on Amazon won't post to Ireland and have never done, It was not about saving a few pennies on delivery, It was a case if you needed some stuff on the UK then the Proxy address was useful and needed.
-
Well The Bro in Law ordered Firesticks from Amazon through addresspal, Vat levied on both sides so ended up being 20% odd extra cost than buying in here from an Irish retailer say. Beware if using Addresspal. It is really a defunct service now as the UK Vat charge cannot be backed out as the seller thinks it is a UK transaction so it really pointless.
