  1. Just wonderful! Reminds me of this photo in an older Tara thread:
  2. Serves them right for copying me:
  3. Perhaps @BosKonay would be so kind as to move the last few posts into THIS THREAD, as it seems to be covering the same ground. I guess there's a lot to cover in the debate, and the final calls will be made from a business perspective, with minimum compliance and cost, while maximising return, being the standard. Not disputing that a hundred year plan would be an advantage for future generations, but I just find it hard to imagine many people in business having that vision - or even caring, as they'll be long dead before their investment pays off. Also, much as I'd love to see the 071's re-engined to be the future, they can only be rebuilt etc so many times before they just get too old, as @Noel implied in the other thread. They may have one or two more lifetimes left, whether battery powered, hydrogen powered or OHLE powered.
  4. The 071's are gonna look wierd with pantographs.
  5. I'm no engineer, but I'd rather see batteries than complete electrification. I guess it's entirely possible that the two could merge into a hybrid system, locos charging while the pantographs are up and running on batteries while they're down.
  6. What ever happened to @wiggy? He deleted loads of his own forum posts about ten years ago and kind of vanished off the forum.
  7. I'd agree. Surely replacing the 071's with a "greener" loco would be more harmful than making the 071's themselves progressively greener. Plus, rail transport is already a jillion times greener than road transport. Might be an idea to 071-ify some 201's at some stage if more power is needed.
  8. Wow, the different levels and the incline look very interesting. I hope to build an incline at one end of a shelf-type layout some day, but nothing that adventurous.
  9. If viewing on a mobile device from outside of the .ie cachement, you need to change the .ie to .co.uk in the url. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134564550799 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134564547082 I'm sure that Wiggy is actually the chap from Wheeltappers. Neal or Neil?
  10. How do you fix the DAS clay in place? With some kind of glue? Or does it bond to the boards itself?
  11. The second of the three Hi-Story Starlet GT Turbos, this time the white one; HS315-WH. Have to confess that I don't remember ever seeing a white one. EP71 Turbos and Glanza Turbos, sure, but just can't place one of these. Again, lovely detail. They go for silly money online but every now and then one comes along at a fair price.
  12. How similar are they to Irish flats, aside from the colour?
  13. Two lovely heavy haulage / crane trucks added to the fleet. Both will be de-branded. I must try @Rob's tip on printing out new reg' plates. Also have a few cheap curtain-siders that need to be de-branded. Cameo appearance by one of @murphaph's little gems.
  14. Picked up one or two of the Manhattan Popcorn vans. https://www.manhattan.ie/product/manhattan-diecast-model-van/ They look to be AdTrucks 1:64 scale C24 model, so they don't suit 1:76 but I'm sure they could be worked into a corner somewhere. https://www.adtrucks.co.uk/trucksvans/#164
  15. I'd say that they are likely to get damaged in transit, or during warranty repairs of other issues, so yes, I'd call them a warranty related part.
  16. I'll let you live in a 141 cab down here, don't worry.
  17. Not disagreeing with the demand at all, but am thinking of the supply side. He'll need to hold back the bulk of the spares for a reasonable time frame to cover warranty stuff. IRM did the same thing with A Class spares, and it's entirely logical. Imagine Paddy ran out of spare wipers, for example, in the first few months, and it was common knowledge, then couldn't cover warranty stuff? That'd be a nightmare for him and for his customers. Hopefully he considers them as standalone parts, agreed! @WRENNEIRE had some spare handrails last year, so I guess they do appear from time to time. And there are whitemetal spare buffers on eBay: https://www.ebay.es/itm/155376010301
  18. A few between now and March? What are you hiding???
  19. Assuming that the wipers will be plentiful enough for that! I'd say that there'll be rationing in effect, as Paddy will need to hold the bulk of the spares back for warranty jobs etc.
  20. Imagine what's going to happen to loco prices when the IRM Mk2ABC coaches arrive, and then the second batch, and Cement Bubbles or any wagons that may arrive, and then the PRs...
  21. They'd probably still fit an existing 071, though, even if it took a tiny bit of tweaking to fit a pair?
  22. I spoke with @Weshty about some of them a few months back and he had none, had no short term plans to order any, and will contact me when he plans ordering them. No harm in trying him but since he hasn't been in touch with me, I doubt that he has any.
