  1. Romance scams? Pick out the lonelist, most pathetic poster, then PM them. "Hi, I'm double-d Svetlana, blah blah blah" ... Or use the PM facility for nefarious purposes, unrelated to the forum, like planning an assasination? Like the London rioters ten or fifteen years ago used BBM to avoid detection. Or as @Broithe says, the plan is to post, then edit in a malicious link, but they see it's pointless with us off-topic-ers and don't bother. Or just to see members forum signatures and harvest personal info? I dunno, just looking for logic.
  2. Likewise with this forum, there may be ten or twenty members online, the rest guests. That's not to suggest any malice, the forum is quite often featured in my search results online when not logged in, and I imagine the same for many others. Interesting trick on the editing of the posts. Probably won't get away with it here because no matter what gets posted, no more how innocuous, it'll get spammed with off topic stuff on tin vans and chiropractors and "when I was young" posts... I must wrack my brain for some more profiles like these. Usually no activity and too many consonants / double consonants in the name, and usually only one of them logged in at any one time.
  3. Just wondering about suspicious looking profiles on the forum. One or two are obviously members with duplicates, but some look like maybe bots or something. This is just one example, but the bot type ones all look the same. What's their agenda? https://irishrailwaymodeller.com/profile/2501-svetlxvv/
  4. So no need to visit the chiropractor after each trip?
  5. What will you do for glazing?
  6. Will @WRENNEIRE be there with some crazy secret stash? Or a brand new 141 EP?
  7. Mrs. Snail might be happy to accept the house burning down if it means getting rid of those damn trains! Not disagreeing on price, it's a massive massive jump! Think that the sound fitted Accurascale 92's were around €335, and having a non-sound model, or two, or whatever, I can vouch for them being incredible:
  8. Sleeping in the bath, happy memories!
  9. Nothing showing for me on Rails' eBay store since this afternoon. https://www.ebay.es/str/railsofsheffield
  10. Definitely not a bargain if you're buying from the EU, but for forum members stuck on the wrong side of the Irish Sea, who are used to being violated on eBay, it may be a bargain. Ah, the days of €90 locos from Hatton's!
  11. In fairness, it's a loco, sound decoder and smoke generator, all squished into a 1:87 body, so there's a lot of bang for your buck. Must have been a challenging build.
  12. Murphy Models 141 Class no. 156 in IR livery for £225 GBP from Hatton's: https://www.hattons.co.uk/1392457/bachmann_branchline_mm0156_po_irish_class_141_156_in_ir_livery_murphy_models_of_dublin_commission_pre_owned_/stockdetail
  13. You could probably make one much the way you have made your own, only wrapped around a roller instead of flat.
  14. So when IRM do a re-run in 2026, they can do a seven-car set! Wonder if they'll have the 1/76 catering cart ready for the 2026 re-run...
  15. I'm sure my Dad had a different opinion! So are there any fixed configurations for multiple running of 22000's? Like, do they run in 6+6 format, or is a 6+3 the longest etc?
  16. For me, the "good" was on the outside rather than the inside, everything looked great but tended to be unreliable crap under the skin, the ST / IR era, Jacob's-orange Atlanteans, then the flat-faced Atlanteans in the new two-tone green, then the KC's and KD's, weekends at the end of a platform in Hueston or Connolly wasting the film in my Dad's camera, then as a teen in secondary school, spending lunchbreaks down by the railway line.
  17. Fully agree on the nostalgia. I long to see what I remember from my childhood, only remembering the good, not the bad. Still, the last decade or two, the closest I get to rail travel is the Tranvia / tram up in Santa Cruz, so you guys don't know how lucky you are with your grey 071's, your 22000's and your RPSI specials!
  18. €690, so the real question is original livery or post-2013 livery? May be time for @BosKonay to merge this thread with the other 22000 thread!
  19. You mean @murphaph better get his soldering iron packed and book his flights!
  20. How about a six-car set with four extra speakers???
  21. I received the same email, explaining the confusion. Great idea with the online version. My hard copy arrived late last week, but I'm a bit further south than Newry...
  22. Classic background tune when he unveils the Class 50!
  23. Retro Models' (AKA author and bus expert Ed O'Neill)'s Bus Eireann DAF VDL Futura 2 LC300 in 1/87 scale is available to pre-order here: https://www.irishretro.com/new-products-2/bus-ireann-model-lc300-type May be a bit modern for some folk, but with IRM's 22000's probably only a year away, this would be a nice model to squeeze in somewhere. According to the Irish Retro website: "The model will feature LC304 on the 132 Tullow route, however extra decals will be provided for you to apply should you prefer to show 109 An Uaimh (LC305) ; 101 Drogheda (LC322); 239 Corcaigh (LC316); 160 Newry (LC303). The advance order price is €85.00 + p&p."
  24. This has just been re-listed as it didn't sell first time around. Completed Jim Poots Wright Crusader kit. Currently showing at approx. €60. Paint finish isn't to my taste but it might suit somebody here: https://www.ebay.es/itm/115855445127
  25. Excellent idea using the template - reminds me of this post on the wonderful Borris Railway thread.
