  1. I meant third rail in the sense that we already have DART and LUAS, so the Metro becomes the third! Stephen
  2. Any photos of your Bandon tank anywhere to hand? Stephen
  3. Nice video. The obvious question is why not extend the existing LUAS or heavy rail suburban system rather than have a new, third rail based system? Stephen
  4. How’s progress 4+ years on? Stephen
  5. What traffic are the redundant magnesite wagons being used for on the SDJR. Stephen
  6. Mine arrived today as well. Well worth the wait. Stephen
  7. Blame it all on the politicians for giving in to pressure to hold a referendum, the leaving the EU and finally negotiating a diabolical trade deal. Sorry if that goes against the rules of the forum but the downside of Brexit keeps being brought up. Stephen
  8. For those of us living in the UK, they’ll arrive when they arrive. Why you may ask? Brexit and the absolute mess made of new trading arrangements made by our politicians. Rant over, wait continues. Stephen
  9. They’re the GWR Collett masquareding as SR Maunsell coaches. Stephen
  10. I’ve seen a photo of one converted to a dolomite wagon. Stephen
  11. A lovely representation of the prototype. Enjoy. Stephen
  12. Delightful as ever. Stephen
  13. That looks suspiciously like a Maunsell tender next to 174. Stephen
  14. That is the trouble these days, with so much good stuff being available, it wounds the wallet! Stephen
  15. Have you bought any of Mayner’s wagons? They are quite delightful. Stephen
  16. That’s what we like, underpromise and overperform. Customer service at its very best, you lovely people. Stephen
  17. Sorry to say but I don’t believe it’s a J15 because of the drop in the running plate front and rear. Stephen
  18. Can only agree with Noel’s comment. Stephen
  19. Lovely to see more of this delightful layout. Keep them coming, please, Patrick. Stephen
  20. Presumably wagons dropped off in the loop were attached to the branch train here for onward transmission down the branch and vice versa for traffic off the branch. There is also a siding alongside the loop. I wonder what was its purpose? It must have been a fascinating place to sit and watch train movements. Stephen
  21. It doesn’t seem enough to say that they are up to the usual standard. I guess I’ll just have to be patient. Stephen
  22. The UK version of the story about whether to keep diesel locos running or not revolves around how much power is taken from the battery to start the diesel engine. Apparently it would take many hours to recharge it. Sounds plausible but not a very green approach these days. Stephen
  23. A lovely bit of fiction. Stephen
  24. I think I’m correct in saying that, if the railway had been built between Bundoran and Sligo, as part of the original proposal to link Enniskillen and Sligo, there would have been no need for the SLNCR. A joint station in Sligo would have been served by three of Ireland’s railways, GSWR, MGWR and GNR. Just think of the modelling potential that would have been. We would need some more of Roderick Bruce’s lovely U’s and UG’s to provide the GNR train service, preferably the earlier versions. Stephen
