  2. Like the saying 'a 20 footer' I think, but for smaller scales. E.g.- my car is a 20 footer - meaning it looks good from 20ft away, but when you get up close you see all the faults!
  3. You could get thick strands of pure copper wire by stripping heavy duty cable (for cookers say) - there'd be no problem with solder taking to that
  4. Interesting! On seeing the recent pic of 142 at Whitehead with the grey undercoat in parts,I imagined an 071 in freight grey, but with the white & tan band of the 141s original. Anyone handy at photoshop that could whip up this fictional livery to see how it'd look?
  5. Sad news. May the crew RIP
  6. would it not have been a hell of a lot cheaper to install a few I-beam barriers up the road from the bridge? Let the trucks smash into them instead - easy to replace a damaged I beam, and the truck driver learns a lesson
  7. stunning!
  8. I picked up a copy of the book below. Each story is only a page or two long, but is a great read! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Railway-Ghosts-Phantoms-W-B-Herbert-x/dp/0715397834
  9. probably a bag of cans on the deadmans switch! ;-)
  10. Maybe he bought the Irish stock seperately & put them in this box?

  12. Bad, but not as bad as Tyco Racing were hit: http://www.britishsuperbike.com/news/four-tyco-bmw-race-bikes-stolen/
  13. Where can you buy the Mr Soundguy chips from? No links or shop on his own site
  14. I plan to make it along - been dying to see inside the place since I moved down here 5 years ago!
  15. Here's a shop on Shapeways doing 3d printed Irish locos/carriages/wagons in N, and OO gauge: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/valvedesign
  16. Old Lima Metro-Vick 125 here from Italy, in case anyone is looking for one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lima-HO-1-87-IRELAND-Irish-Railways-CIE-Metro-Vick-125-/361755451167?hash=item543a4e1f1f:g:cwMAAOSwmLlX8jMw
  17. Poor match I thought - plenty of loose passing straight to the opposition by both sides. Mayo missing that last point at the end of the match that could have taken them to extra time was criminal, as was Dublin missing the point just minutes beforehand. Give it another 65 years and try again Mayo
  18. You could get close to the state of most of the bubbles by spraying them with glue & dipping them in a bowl of flour I reckon!
  19. I've heard they have around 4000 bookings for it at present
  20. Hi all, This popped up as a suggestion for me on Facebook. Had a quick look, and thought it may be of interest to people here! http://www.digikeijs.de/catalogsearch/result/?q=Dr5000
  21. I think I'll have to be content with a Deutz repaint, some wagons, and a coach in black n tan - run as a branchline.
  22. Just remember that you stand a chance of getting hit with duty on stuff coming in from outside the EU. Not funny that they include the cost of postage along with the cost of the item when working out the amount of duty you pay - typically 30% on top
  23. Yes please! I'd be interested to see what is out there. I know a Deutz G is available in DB colours
  24. First I've heard of it! But then I don't even know my own blood type
  25. Great news alright - he is really annoying! I think they should have changed up the format of the show more. Evans is just reading the script Clarkson would have read, and it doesn't work. I like LeBlanc, and Chris Harris is great for handling/reviewing the Super/Hypercars. My brother was showing me his reviews on Youtube a couple of years ago, and they are really professional. I like the rallycross lap rather than the old standard track lap for the stars, and it is good to have two on together.
