Ernies Massive Irish 1930's to 2005 Photo Archive
JasonB replied to Glenderg's topic in Photos & Videos of the Prototype
Could be wrong, but they look like Mk2's to me Noel. -
The corrugated building and it's base is almost complete. I've a little more detail to add before I finally fix in place and paint. Just about to make a start on the guard rail from the bits and bobs below, and I've also some more tidying up to do on the Silo itself.

What's that I can smell? It's definitely something familiar...A hint of grapes maybe? I've definitely smelt it somewhere before... Ah that's it. It's bullshit.

Jasus is right. What planet are some of these living on. I'll be watching this with interest. If they do manage to offload it to someone deluded enough to buy it, I know what I'll be doing with my one

Varnished or painted surfaces will take the powders alot easier Noel, but it's also harder to remove them if you make a boo boo. They tend to leave a smudge or stain on rougher surfaces, where with a glossy plastic finish they can be a little easier to get off. Depends on the preferred methods of the person using them I suppose, and the type of weathering being applied. Personally I quite like using powders and find them very effective when you can get them to work with you.

Well that's Brexit covered. Any thoughts on North Korea or Trump's Border Wall?

Careful now...

Still haven't made up my mind as to how this will look when finished. Quite like the used, slightly industrial look of Tullamore. But I'm leaning towards Waterford West, with it's Irish Cement logo.

This afternoon was spent measuring and cutting out each section for what will eventually form the small corrugated structure that sits on top of the silo. To help keep everything straight I've used an old platelayers hut which I will glue the four sides to. But that's a job for another day.

Horizontal and vertical detailing now added. As always, time is the enemy. But things are beginning to take shape nicely.

Absolutely love this layout. It's a perfect example of less is more, and that's meant as a compliment. No fuss, kept simple but finished to a high standard as the picture above shows. This layout just oozes atmosphere and class to go with it.

Impressive for a first attempt. Nice work on the streaking.

Yes Noel, we all know yellow PW stuff isn't your thing. But considering the twin pack was 110 euro a pop when released first, it's not that bad a price compared to what some are asking for them. It's rare they turn up. Like with most things, if someone wants them badly enough they'll pay.

That's an extremely rare visitor to be seen amongst the usual swarm of Diesel Power working on Tara Junction Noel

Personally I quite like the new look. But does it really matter that much, they spend most of the time that far up you can't see what colour they're painted anyway.

Noel, I know how hard you find it to let anything ORANGE contaminate Kingsbridge, other than your Bubbles. So if you fancy shifting any of those modern Baby GM's drop me a line

166 and the Oil Wagons.. I don't think it gets much better than this. Pure filth, and the sound of that GM engine -
Stillorgan is the 10th. Bray is the 17th.

Brilliant as always Noel. Where did you get the power plant if you don't mind me asking.

He wasn't looking for a list of your old girlfriends Dave

The huge expectation building up to this years 6 Nations seemed to take it's toll today. Never looked like coming back after going 17-10 down.

CIE Laminate Coaches - Worsley Works - ECMbuild in 4mm

Eoin, your work never ceases to amaze me. Top class as always. -
Like the look of this. More photos would be great

Thanks for the update Fran. This delay and the reason for it can only be seen as a positive in my opinion. As with all releases to date, the detail on each has been outstanding because IRM has accepted nothing less. No doubt these beauties will be well worth the wait.

Managed to make a little more progress on the silo over the past week or so. First job to be tackled was sorting a base to form the roof area. For this I decided to use some foam packing. Simple enough process involved... The foam was cut to shape and the sides covered in pva glue. It was then pushed up through the tube, and once set I covered it in plasticard. What I was left with was a lightweight but solid base to build on. Next it was on to the outer wall And then the inner wall at the top
