  1. Dear Bank Manager .... HELOC ...... Life Assurance policy on the missus ..... Sincerely, I. M. Indentured
  2. Never fear, John. Drew Donaldson writes that from his personal recollection Cork Shed turned out B4 464, J18 593 and J15 193 with black smoke boxes as evidenced from leslie's IRRS photo above.
  3. I wonder how the newer components like Loksound V5 will fare? The newer IRM offerings have integrated sound that cannot be retrofitted according to Fran or at least the components will not be available to fit to the models e.g. the ICRs I presume we will be looking to people like legomanbiffo for a physically compatible LokSound V8.5 if indeed that vendor is still on the go at that time?
  4. Personally, I am gutted that they will not be producing it in the livery of the Great Train Robbery (y'know, an Irish model masquerading as an British rather than the traditional order) I wonder if the chips were not all that comfortable in the metal fryer?
  5. The evidence for badger populations being responsible for the bTB persistence and periodic outbreaks in cattle has been regarded as circumstantial at best for many decades. Farming practices, circumvention of control measures and intra-herd spread are more likely. Badgers are a convenient culprit, like foxes that decimated domestic fowl populations, sea eagles that depleted fishing stocks and golden eagles that carried away flocks of sheep and small children. Luckily most shot to extinction by the valiant Irish farmer
  6. .....exI ept the US cousin has a tractive effort almost three times that of the 071! Regularly see quad- and quintuple-headed UPs hauling a mile of freight cars, literally, pretty impressive even though ihave to wait several minutes for it to pass over the grade crossings. Harder to find but my personal favorite livery would be the Norfolk Southern livery which is still see here with some frequency https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_SD70_series#/media/File:Norfolk_Southern_SD70_(378889478).jpg
  7. You're referring to the British duo and not Rory one presumes? Blood being thicker than PVA and all that
  8. Exactly, it’s a short trip to Cultra
  9. TBH I'm surprised there isn't sufficient market for an rtr model of the 4w LVs, HLVs with its several variants and TPO all running on the same chassis in silver, green and BnT liveries, possibly even the 6w HV. The didn't run in rakes but one or several of each were in so many trains. Granted they are mostly built pre-70s
  10. that's my guess for the next IRM rtr niche product offering
  11. Why would you be measuring anything unless you were considering new tooling or maybe just a change in livery on existing tooling
  12. Well, actually they went live early.....
  13. I'll tone down the color at some point with some weathering to get rid of the garish toyish blue look but the 'peacock' livery does it for me
  14. Any intent on doing the previous livery on the ML? I don't know if the container itself the same?
  15. According to Fran's post this should not be live until Friday 9am, might take a few more if they are left and can be shipped with the Dicky Taras
  16. What era does that ML box cover?
  17. Phil, I agree with almost all of what you’re saying but the problem is that while IRM have hinted at producing everything in good time, we have no timeline for what will be produced if ever. I understand the economics of volume production but the simple fact is people have begged for additional stock from an earlier era and that has not been realized presumably because it is not economically viable unless it has a UK equivalent somewhere to make it a viable. The A class lasted well into the post 70s era which made it viable to produce in earlier liveries while most of IRMs offering continue to be new or rerun offerings after that. I have every IRM offering except the original Tara’s, with several doubles so pleas didn’t come in here saying I should support Irish. Like a decade ago I, like many of you, will settle once again for a British approximation for an Irish prototype in the absence of anything better to run. I have purchased all of these genesis coaches in Irish livery, double on the BnT brake to have some stock to pull. In this respect, not so much has changed since the Lima Class 33 for the pre 70s Irish scene. When you look at the price of the Hattons offering in Sterling and add the light kit which you’d expect from any IRM offering that’s quite a lot for a two or triple pack of Irish coaches. I’d have preferred to pay more than that for something prototypically Irish. Maybe still not viable based on numbers, sure. If you’re teasing under this thread and thinking of any earlier period prototypical offerings you could do worse than to announce that before people spent their hard earned cash on something they’d want to offload load in return. Whole load of wasted time and postage and not feasible for those outside the Brexit/eurozone. I understand the several reasons the any company would want to keep some announcements to itself but the change in delaying announcements (except the Class 89 of course) until tooling has exacerbated this uncertainty for the Irish model consumer. It’s hard to support Irish products that are not in the known pipeline.
  18. They didn’t go for it ..
  19. OK, I just figured that out as there is no logo on the IRM site only the accurascale site
  20. Kinda like the 92038 with the mints now that I've noticed them but 92010 looks very clean, so might preorder one but what to do if a few packs become available, maybe I could combine the orders at a later date to minimize shipping costs? Incidentally a Class 89 is on my list now too, I remember her at Newcastle in the white letters in another lifetime
  21. An Accurascale exclusive in what sense? Not for sale by other retailers? @BosKonay I notice some small red and white paintwork detail on the bogies of 92038. Is this on some of the class , or a more recent livery variation on some? And ok, I guess most know what a polo mint logo is but I'm as stumped as the first time someone told me my CIE loco had a broken wheel on it ....... lol EDIT: OK, I see it blurred out on the only photo of 92038. Can someone elaborate on "polo mints" Channel Tunnel logos which are such a feature of the real locomotives please?
  22. Would anyone briefly outline what the difference would be between 92010 and 92038? Also tried to chat to IRM but no response that I'm aware of. Any info appreciated. TIA
  23. Re footboards and numbering on the Genesis coaches (in general if I recall) Detailing Optional lower footboards Full brake rigging Finely detailed panelling Painted interiors Fully lined liveries to original company specifications Unique running numbers between single coaches and packs - carefully selected to fit with companies numbering systems
  24. I don't normally collect any British outline but quite like the appearance of the Class 92 in CS livery. Can someone briefly outline what the difference would be between 92010 and 92038? Unfortunately the sleeper packs seem to sold out
