  1. Although the quality has improved over yesterdecades, as a generalization, B&W from the 1950s has a lot better quality than many color shots from the 1970. If the garish blues or newer PW stock offends, best stay with the B&Ws? Hadn't realized that they Tara’s had the last 2 digits emboldened high on the side to ID the wagon
  2. I’ve also had this issue propelling the Bachmann RPSI green coaches run with A42 just because they were to hand and green and with the 42’ keg liner if I recall correctly when the A class is coupling to and propelling the rake. Same issue loco running under the wagon coupler and lifting the wagon which may run straight but propelling into a siding is a no-no. Once hooked the wagon cannot regain the rail even if the loco then hauls the rake as the vertical bar on the loco TLC is now within the circumference of the wagons TLC.
  3. Photo is 1992 or after as 181 was in CIE/IR transitional livery in 1991
  4. Not a scholar on the derivation Of Irish place names or anything but to be fair to the GSR, the term Bri Cualann was in usage by a Irish scholars of the time for several decades prior to this, the term Cuala being an ancient regional territory added to Bri in an attempt to counter the anglicization of local place names. Seemingly Bre, Bree or Brea can be traced back to at least the 13th century in state and church records so CIE’s bilingual place names may not have been too far off the rails after all
  5. Many happy returns to you and yours.
  6. The Global Shipping Program completely ruined eBay. It’s easier for the seller not to have to worry about shipping Internationally. They just ship it to a UK address and GSP then makes a huge markup sending it abroad. In addition eBay will charge VAT when the item is for export. GSP ‘handle’ the “import charges” and all that upon arrival at the destination country (there are none for US). Of course some sellers just set the shipping themselves as a little sweetener for the trouble of sending it abroad. ‘If you need it you can pay for it’
  7. You can get them from the usual secondary UK retailers for far less than than without the additional eBay charges. A46 available last time I enquired but that was a a few weeks back I suppose.
  8. It's the 4w TPO/Sorting Van that I'm having a hard time finding, mThe older type TPOs were in lined green for sure but the 2962 series vans should have been after the silver livery they had
  9. I was just wondering, Ken, if this is the same wagon at Cork in 1960, some differences but seems remarkably similar although I'm not a DSER aficionado
  10. The HLV and Hooded(LV) vans were in green for sure from photographs. The TPOs were rarer and I think yes but don't rely on that unless I revert having seen a photo. I think JB is saying all three types did but some within each type may have skipped a livery direct to BnT
  11. Someone is, certain member of this parish did very well on a sale of a MM 071 recently https://www.ebay.com/itm/133955138337?nma=true&si=efY1JuCzv24Yr1b%2Bm%2FQIZy%2BPSMk%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  12. Run up to Christmas, all our spouses are paying top dollar for our under the tree gifts, ……
  13. Neapolitan snipers don’t use camo, the home decorated graffiti suit is the order of the day …… Not sure about snipers in Inchicore, maybe urban camo or would hi-viz jackets be needed for working graffiti marks?
  14. Just trying to remember what the various Y33 colour bogies would be suitable for? Obviously 42' flats, black on ammonia? What else had y33s?

Ken, not at all surprised given the comments on your workbench that you're now in this section
  16. THe transformer on that put out half an amp. Most DCC chips will handle put to 1A at least and that's because the loco may pull that much amperage under certain conditions. I'm completely with Phil, go DCC from the start. Many more options on anything you'll buy, smoother running as the loco is on full current all the time (the pulse frequency is adjusted to determine how fast he loco runs), loco lighting options, sound when you can afford to buy those. You don't need to get too fancy for DCC. I have a quick Bachmann EZ track just for testing locos and new sound chips, running in new locos and the like and even that will run fine with a DCC controller. You can start adding droppers and all that business later
  17. I even got some, the shame. Thoroughly too modern but I actually liked them when they arrived despite the yellow garishness
  18. I was also going to suggest the controller but Georgeconna was associated with Marks Models so he would have a lot of perspective on that. what about the Coca Cola 0-4-0s Will a single controller power one of them? Both of them?
  19. Its time to email Santa Claus. Alan Hyland from IRRS emailed me yesterday to say that they have acquired additional stock of the book so don't say you all have not been given another bite of the Christmas pudding... @StevieB membership@irrs.ie
  20. THat's a lovely shot for someone wanting to produce a three pack pallet van
  21. BUT, I hear you say ...... and some AEC (CIE & GNR), might stretch for an Arrow liveried 2600. Lost my mind only after purchasing them all, should have put the credit card on the burner Same here in the Arrow Aye you could do worse that the 101, nigh, so you could
