It has had sellotape on it but just needs cleaning off. The Roof vent wants reseating. The Cab and Control Panel putting back Correctly after being removed for some reason (probably to get to the DCC socket) and the Handrail reseating. Scroll down the picks for close ups.

This is a case of a seller doing all he can to show the true state of an item (Not just a single dark blurred shot)

He said not running but also not a railway modeller. But all other locos he is selling have same description of power applied but wheels do not move. So if supplied DC from a transformer was it set to move or just at 0. Also this loco is a DCC fitted loco remember.

Some “interesting” 6-wheeled coaches.

Look to be hand repainted French coaches - possibly Jouef/Playcraft?

Cheers

Darius

Edit - on closer inspection you can see the printing layers, especially on the roof.  Not the smoothest of prints…

3d printed it seems, for some of them at least.

Fair play to him for having a go at hand-painting the flying snail when transfers exist. God loves a trier.

I looked at this earlier, not many bargains

Maybe so, although there are more items being uploaded as we speak.

Many of the weathered items are well done, and a lot cheaper than paying for a custom weathering job on a new model.

Also there are some of the scarcer models available, admittedly not so cheap.

There's always the shipping and customs charges issues to consider of course, and these may appeal more to customers in GB.

You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment ...

actually I can comment 🙂 ... picked up a couple of Cravens to mix in with my Park Royals. We'll see what customs charges are involved in the next few days 🤞

Well, that lot didn't hang around for very long 🤣 just goes to show the level of demand there is.

Prices increased in the last few hours on some items!

There were some Dapol repaint vans on the Rails site earlier. Just went to have another look and they've already gone! Someone has snagged them quickly... I was too slow!!

I’m afraid I couldn’t resist 112 in the condition it worked down south for a year or two. Many fond memories of that machine on railtours, beet traffic and general duties, even if it doesn’t suit my modelling timeline.
At the less expensive end of the spectrum I got a couple of the IRM side-door ISO containers which I had been looking out for.

What livery was 112 in Paul?

The weathered BnT B181 is very nice. I've already got that one though, so i shall resist!

This is just as I remember it, even down to the mismatched cabside window:

So, the three pre-owned Cravens arrived to my home in Dublin this morning.  I ordered from the main Rails of Sheffield website, not their eBay store and they were sent via Royal Mail and An Post. VAT was paid at point of purchase, and  that was it  - they were delivered without any customs charges or handling charges.

Couple of things to note:

  • There were three items of the same type in one parcel, so for the customs declaration they were declared  as 1 x model railway goods with a value of £208. This is allowed under the rules and as the package value was greater than €150, the new €3 charge did not apply anyway. Also model railway goods have 0% customs duty. As VAT had already been applied, there was no customs related processing required and no charges were applied by An Post.
  • I bought from the Rails main website not the eBay store, and they may or may not be applying different processes on eBay for international customers - I don't know. But what I do know from having used Rails main website extensively since the demise of Hattons is that Rails have made themselves aware of the customs rules, and (like accurascale) they have processes in place to ensure that charges are correctly applied (and minimised for EU customers).
