A few weeks after selling out from directly they are touting them out on eBay. It must be frustrating for the IRM lads. I think it seems more pronounced and brazen because we are a small community.... What can IRM do? They've already been paid. However, those who didn't order direct in time to beat the touts will always lose out unless there are subsequent batches. 1 1

I just don't like these chancers with such a big mark up. It's life though. Â
Mol_PMB Posted July 24 Posted July 24 A couple of Genesis 6-wheelers in CIE dark green - third and compo. Prices reasonable at present, in GB: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/198509396745 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/198509429319

I reckon it would be significant.  That reminded me that I have "071" no.085 in the shed waiting for 21mm conversion. It's been that long since I bought it that I actually forgot I had it - meanwhile, values seem to have increased due in no small way to the flipper community. £450 is very nearly 3 times what I paid for mine. A 21mm 071, the next best thing while we wait for @BosKonay‘s O Gauge 071! 2

It's why I've spent the last couple of years playing catch up and trying to source long old out items. I'm trying to be more proactive nowadays. Trying... procrastination is in my genes!!Â
Fiacra Posted July 30 Posted July 30 NIR 112 added to adverts.ie yesterday. Looks to be in decent condition, but the price is not for the faint of heart! https://www.adverts.ie/toy-cars-trains-boats-planes/murphy-models-112-northern-counties-model-railway/40675492 Â

Reference my previous comment here about procrastination, bought it originally for the original price of €159, remember those days... 1
west_clare_wanderer Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Limited edition, but evidently the sound chip doesn't work..... All yours for a cool £399 sterling! https://ebay.io/m/Tz8I8i 1

Mol_PMB Posted August 4 Posted August 4 There are some serious high prices for Irish models on eBay at the moment. I saw a Park Royal sold for over £150: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/147478779106 And this 071 went for £560:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/168567298767 Which makes this one for £517 look like a good deal! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/147478744350 Even the old Murphy Cravens are fetching nearly £90: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/168567958883 So a set of 3 beet wagons for under 70 notes looks a bargain: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/137581489568 1 1

I'd better get on with 21mm'ing that 071 to make it less saleable. 1 1

I think demand is small, but supply is smaller still. And there can’t be many willing to pay that much.  Having come late to the Murphy/IRM party, over the space of a couple of years I’ve been able to buy almost all the models I wanted at reasonably sensible prices. Patience and vigilance were needed.  I think a re-release of 071s would only sell well if accompanied by something new for them to haul - proper Irish Mk3s being the obvious option. 1 1

I have only one 071, and its not in one of my preferred IR/IE tippex liveries but I got it for a good(ish) price before the second hand prices went completely mad. However, given that there's still plenty of the new batch of 141/181s available I wonder if the market for re-runs of Irish locos is a bit soft at the moment? 1 1
Mayner Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago I was lucky enough to pick up an 071 and 4 Cravens at a discounted price when Marks Models were struggling to clear unsold MM stock about 10 years ago and bought a small number of 141s & 121s when initially introduced but otherwise pressed pass-go on other MM offerings. If you are prepared to wait currently inflated second hand MM/IRM prices/demand is likely to drop as has been my experience in the Irish/UK and local property market over the last 40 years. The ideal time to sell is just before or after a market peaks and the best time to buy immediately before of after a trough. Then again there is always scratchbuilding, the only option during the long period Irish outline rtr and/or kits were unavailable. During the mid-90s a group of young MRSI members scratchbuilt a fleet of nicely modelled 201 Class locos, Arrow & Sparrow railcars with plasticard bodies on modified RTR chassis. One of the plasticard 201s and a 141 were subsequently used as masters for resin 201 & 141 bodies produced by Marks Models before MM introduced their first RTR 201 (Lima) and 141 (Bachmann) models. Â
