Mol_PMB Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Over on RMWeb some people have reported (of the Heljan base models) that some brake shoes aren’t fully clear of the wheels, making the wagons a bit stiff. Might be worth checking if they don’t roll as freely as you would like. 2 Quote

They also mention the couplers being stiff and a little higher, but that probably only affects those doing lots of shunting. 1 1 Quote
NIRCLASS80 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Just a short video for anyone concerned about the noise in the previous video. Some very light lubrication using Kadee Coupler dry graphite power done the trick. A really soft pencil would do the same job. IMG_8504.mov 3 1 Quote

Ironroad Posted February 24 Posted February 24 As it stands it looks like my order for these tankers and the H vans are stuck with US Customs in New York which is something new and most likely related to the abolition on Feb 5th of the exemption to duties on small parcels under $800. This action is specifically intended to target such parcels either originating in China or containing products made in China. It also looks like the paperwork requirements are more stringent and accordingly I'm expecting both orders will be returned to IRM/AS. https://www.easyship.com/blog/section-321-de-minimis-changes 1 Quote

The duty mainly affected high value items imported from the United States (mainly e-Bay and Accuacraft). I challenged duty being charged on model railway items, being exempt in UK and Europe but chargable in this part of the World. NZ Customs tended to focus on collecting their duties, taxes and fees and not get too hung up on the technicalities of the declaration. Its possible US Customs simply may not have the capability (staff or technology) to process low value parcels following the change in policy. The Irish Customs/An Post and most other countries spent two/three years preparing to implement the 2023 changes to Global Customs Clearance requirements. 1 Quote

Yes, to put this in perspective, the number of parcels with a value of less than $800 arriving annually in the US is estimated to be more than a Billion. So the level of chaos that now exists in the clearing centres may take some time to sort out. and it may be the case that to clear the back log they will be forced to arbitrarily allow some parcels a free pass. That may already be the case for my H van order as it looks like that parcel may have been released earlier this morning but the tanker order is still stuck. This is not the only instance of chaos in the US in recent weeks as a result of executive orders and some backtracking has been necessary. Pausing shipments to allow things to settle down might be a good idea. Quote

BEANO3005 Posted yesterday at 03:41 Posted yesterday at 03:41 They run very well after a drop of oil on all the axle boxes as they were not free running and terrible squeeky. Happy with them now. Highly recommended. No derailment, even at speed. 20250306_173741.mp4 3 1 Quote
