Very sorry to hear about the passing of Chris Dyer, as per the Ulster Model Railway Club Facebook page. I’m sure many of us have spent many happy hours chatting with Chris at model shows or browsing through his always-excellent selection of rolling stock for sale.

RIP, Chris.

Very sad to read this.

Chris was a lovely lovely man.

Made a huge contribution to the Irish model railway scene, and I'm sure there are plenty like me who were in his debt with the gems he used to procure at fair prices.

He had one of my grey 071's and I hadn't heard anything from him about it in a long time. Guess now I know why.

☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

I have worked with Chris here in Ireland and also at some of his UK fairs for 30+ years,

What an amazing person and what a remarkable life. I feel so lucky that I was part of his journey.

Sorry to hear this, RIP Chris

A good man to deal with, and filled a big gap in the Irish Railway model range with the MK3 and MK 4 coaches and the fine 2600 DMU units to name but a few and his stand at the Dublin show will be sadly missed

Very sorry to hear this. Chris was omni-present at every Irish event I attended and there are quite a few vehicles in my collection obtained from him.

I was travelling on the Heart of Wales line one day, which happened to be his annual visit to the line, and took the opportunity of ordering a single ended B Class from him.

He'll leave quite a gap. Chris, may you rest in peace.

Hi everyone,

The team here at IRM/Accurascale was very sorry to hear of the untimely passing of Chris Dyer over the weekend.

As anyone familiar with the Irish modelling scene would know, Chris ran toy fairs, commissioned reworked models and sold model trains, both new and secondhand at various shows across the island of Ireland for many years. He also ran a brilliant toy fair in Stillorgan with his good buddy, Dave Bracken for many years before COVID lockdowns and Brexit put a spanner in the works.

He was also an early supporter of IRM and what we set out to do, with him being only one of our very select few trade partners. He also gave us space at the Stillorgan fair to promote and sell our models and meet the public.

He will be greatly missed by those in the hobby, but not as much as he will be by his wonderful family and friends.

Thanks very much for all your help and support, Chris, and the odd bargain too.

Ar Dheis De go Raibh aHainm Dhilis.

Thanks,

Fran
