Popular Post Warbonnet Posted Thursday at 11:55 Popular Post Posted Thursday at 11:55 No sooner had we announced that our next locomotives for IRM would be the utterly distinctive and characterful NIR 101 Class "Hunslets", that we already had progressed to decorated samples and they have now landed with us for assessment! We have some minor amendments to make which we will go through below. But first, let's feast our eyes on some proper Hunnys! Quite tasty, right? We're so thankful to the Ulster Folk And Transport Museum for allowing us access to the Hunslet so we could scan and measure it up to bring you this model. If you haven't been to Cultra, make sure you put it in your diary. It's a great day out as explained by Clare Ablett, the Transport Curator at the museum. Of course, this is just the next step in the development process as we work toward creating the finished models you will receive. We have improvements to make at this point too, which include the following: Improve paint application on GSM aerials. Improve operation and alignment of sprung buffers. Factory fit drawhook, and separate couplings into accessory bag. Allocate accessory items to each SKU. Improve manufacturing process to eliminate ejection pin marks. Improve casting process on chassis block to eliminate odd areas of rough casting. Improve paint coverage on MU fittings. Want to know more about the project? Check out our video with Hunslet Project Manager, Paul Isles, below! Overall, we are very pleased with progress so far, and the above has been fed back to the factory already with these amendments now well under way. Production is due to begin just after the Chinese New Year break in spring 2025 with us still on course for a delivery date Q4 2025. Order Your NIR Hunslet Here! View the full article 12 1 7 Quote

murphaph Posted Thursday at 12:34 Posted Thursday at 12:34 Cracking stuff. Anyone even half sitting on the fence with a bit of an arsecheek should order one before it's too late. 3 1 Quote

These pictures are definitely inspiring me to get on with building my NIR works train to go behind the maroon 101 I've ordered. Though I'm fully expecting IRM to drop a maroon/blue Mk2 bomb on us soon... 3 Quote

To quote my favourite Christmas character from literature - "Bah, Humbug" But as it's the Season, the last words of the same Book. "God Bless us Everyone". 6 Quote
John-r Posted Thursday at 13:38 Posted Thursday at 13:38 Fantastic, they look absolutely stunning, what attention to detail, each livery is as lovely as the next one, Lads this one is out of the park it looks that good. The Jeep will have its work cut out for it with these . Very well done to all involved. A very Happy Christmas to one and all. 1 Quote

To be honest I'd probably buy an IRM 101 class whichever variety they produced (Hunslet, Sulzer, or GS&WR). 3 Quote
Georgeconna Posted Thursday at 15:53 Posted Thursday at 15:53 Nice, Never noticed the white outline chevrons before. MIR never had them on their decals, the ones I did anyhow. Looks really smart. Just what to choose is the problem. 1 Quote

Don't make the same mistake as I did, which was to look through a load of prototype photos to choose the best livery, and then find that was the only one not represented in model form. Doh! Best to choose from the available models instead. Here's 101 in my favourite scheme, the only loco to carry this variant; this is a link to Jonathan Allen's photo on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/152343870@N07/25987476158/ 1 Quote

Basil Posted Thursday at 16:27 Posted Thursday at 16:27 Absolutely stunning. Still can't believe something as obscure as "three units ran in NI for a bit" is getting a proper model! 5 Quote
Bob229 Posted Thursday at 18:22 Posted Thursday at 18:22 Stunning Loco, well done IRM very tempted even though it is not my era Quote
NIRCLASS80 Posted Thursday at 19:36 Posted Thursday at 19:36 Stunning. CAN’T wait for these at Ballyercall. I still can’t believe these have made it to a RTR model. These were the locos of my childhood. Thanks IRM 3 Quote
LMSNCC Posted Thursday at 20:13 Posted Thursday at 20:13 Yeah they look fantastic. Did the red chevrons have white lining? Quote

murphaph Posted Friday at 10:00 Posted Friday at 10:00 All these years and I never realised the chevron was lined. It's a really nice touch and makes it pop. 1 Quote

Didn't realise the MV's had it too which got me thinking, what about the 111's and they had it as well. When you look at a lot of photos its easy see why it would get overlooked as its barely noticeable if not completely disappeared so obviously it didn't last long. 1 Quote

But having seen how they have represented the subtle differences between the Hunslets, maybe the Maybachs will be included in the collection of C class? Quote

NIR 109 was well and truly a Metrovick in body and GM in soul! I think it was the NIR MV with the least mileage. 1 Quote
