Glenderg Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I just passed inchicore, and theres an executive carraige parked outside one of the workshops with the tail end painted in green and silver. Wasn't quick enough with th camera Quote
RedRich Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Is it the 22000 green silver style Richie. Rich, Quote
Glenderg Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 It was mostly green Rich, not much silver at all. I'll be passing friday, so will have camera prepped, unless someone else gets there first. R. Quote

IrishModelRail Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Are there MkIIIs still in Dundalk? Quote
UP6936 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Last I checked they are still in dundalk. Maybe there is going to be a surprise announcement about hourly enterprise services with overhauled mk3 stock. Doubt it though... Quote
108 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The Mk 3's were still in Dundalk 2 weeks ago. I'll be up that way on Friday so will update then. Quote
Garfield Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I'm guessing that's a photo of the Enterprise genny vans just before their refurbishment? Quote
Warbonnet Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I'm guessing that's a photo of the Enterprise genny vans just before their refurbishment? Scrappers ready for the chop in Inchicore I believe. Quote
BosKonay Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Scrap line I understand. Generators removed. Quote
IrishModelRail Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 The Mk 3's were still in Dundalk 2 weeks ago. I'll be up that way on Friday so will update then. Cheers, I'll be there for the railtour on Sunday. Quote
Lough Erne Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 The Dundalk railway society have chartered the train from Dundalk to whitehead and back on Sunday with 461 providing the motive power and a GM doing the carriage positioning runs. Quote
UP6936 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 So will a GM (NIR?) be hauling an ecs working to dundalk? That would be something I would go to see! Quote
Lough Erne Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 All information about the train including times etc is on the rpsi website http://www.steamtrainsireland.com/events/ Quote
IrishModelRail Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Which railtour is that? The RPSI `Across the tracks`Belfast to Dundalk diesel and steam. Quote
jhb171achill Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Hope it calls at adavoyle, sion mills and rockcorry...... :-) Quote
Glenderg Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Picture of Executive coach as promised... Quote
RedRich Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 To hard to make a decision without seeing all the coach painted. Is it just me or does it look like the black from the original livery is showing through behind the green paint as it looks a bit darker in that area. I wonder why the bogie is also painted grey. Cheers for the pic Richie. Rich, Quote
Riversuir226 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 A few pics of the mark3s left in Waterford. Rich i think your right about the test livery on the mk3s Quote

Cheers for the pic Richie. Rich, Nah thats just a different darker shade of the green. The carriage has actually 4 different shades of green on each end (thats why theres numbers next to them. The bogie is probably painted just so they can see how it would look with the green :-) Quote

Rich i think your right about the test livery on the mk3s Excellent pics Tom. I would urge anybody with a camera and some spare time to try and get as many shots of the coaches before they are scrapped like Tom has done. Otherwise it will be a bit like some of us trying to explain what LP's are to our kids. Rich, Quote

UP6936 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I think the mk4 stock amd railcars have grey bogies, so that's probably why it is painted. Rich, I think, and I could well be wrong, the green is a different shade. Wouldn't it look a bit bland if it was all the one colour? Quote
heirflick Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 i wonder why they didnt bother to paint the roof? Quote
UP6936 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Maybe its not finished. Or, as the roof will likely be light grey, the orange might be difficult to paint over Quote
krose Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Picture of Executive coach as promised... <img src="http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9712"/> Why have they printed the no. 4 on top of the primer coat beside it? Is there 4 samples? Are the other 3 corners painted differently? Quote
jhb171achill Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 With the new logo in place now, but units in all different liveries, maybe they are experimenting with an overall corporate livery for everything? Except, presumably, the 071s; having returned to CIE loco grey, could this be the second dawn of CIE green! Quote
UP6936 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 To run with your theory jhb, with carriages potentially being green, and the main freight locos (071s) going back to CIE grey, maybe the 201s, as the main passenger locos, will be all over green? Personally I would like to see them in the new grey Quote

Rich, I think you're right Rich, you can see the white stripes showing through as well. Quote
jhb171achill Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 A 201 in grey would be an interesting concept all right! Anyone here good with photo shopping? I have to say I always wondered what an 071, 201 or above all an ICR would look like in black'n'tan! Quote
