heirflick Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Yes IR , if it had less branding and more focus on what passengers want , ........ ....well - thats a different ballgame and one i dont think the lads at the top table are capable of solving - by themselves anyway! Quote
Warbonnet Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 looks well on her...if only it was true!!! I believe it is true, not a Photoshop Shem. A few pics of her doing the rounds. Quote
heirflick Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I believe it is true, not a Photoshop Shem. A few pics of her doing the rounds. thats great news! thought it was fake when i saw how badly the cabside numbers were put on! any more pics Fran? Quote
rebelred Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 I believe it is true, not a Photoshop Shem. A few pics of her doing the rounds. Not a Photoshop, she came out of the paintshop 2 days ago & I passed her in Inchicore Loco shed yesterday. New logo looks well on her I think & current MM locos can be easily converted to the new look. Quote
heirflick Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 thanks for keeping us in the loop there redbeired! any differences other than the new logo? Quote
rebelred Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 No they dropped the Iarnrod Eireann under the side numbers. I'd say the spaced out 215 might be to facilitate the 'barcode' identify numbering at a later date. Quote
heirflick Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 she looks good. nice to see the 201's getting a bit of attention! fair play to connie for the pics=D Quote
BosKonay Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 She looks well - nice to see the Intercity livery hanging on too, tho it would have been interesting to see her in Grey Quote
rebelred Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 She looks well - nice to see the Intercity livery hanging on too, tho it would have been interesting to see her in Grey I think Anthony might be bringing his 'battleship grey' 201 back to the paintshop now Quote
heirflick Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 did she get a full overhaul as well ? Quote
josefstadt Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Strange that the didn't put the full EVN on thr loco sides at the same time. Quote
Warbonnet Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Be interesting if she ends up on the Enterprise considering IE is removing the flag logo from the ICRs slated to stand in whilst the DeDetrichs get a refurb! Quote
rebelred Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) I'd say 227 and/ or 228 will be repainted to Enterprise livery when their overhaul is due,as a replacement for 230 they seem to up North permanently. Edited September 3, 2014 by rebelred error Quote
rebelred Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 did she get a full overhaul as well ? If she did get one it was the fastest ever as she was in service recently. 228 got a full overhaul a few weeks ago, thought she would be the first for a re-paint Quote

Railer Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Must look out for her when she's back on enterprise... 228 got an over haul a few months back. I returned to service around the end of June with new wheel sets and a new fuel tank, you can't tell that now. Strange it didn't get a repaint as it was the first 201 in the IC livery. Was even expecting 228 to come back out looking like 8202 but seeing as the Enterprise livery is getting changed again is why they held off on that. Quote

josefstadt Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Nice pics Noel. Loco could do with a bit of weathering though, doesn't look realistic! Send her to Newry! Quote

DiveController Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Good job Noel. I'm not a big fan off at 2:01 locomotives but this kinda makes me want to buy one! Quote
jhb171achill Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I think that 215 would look a bit more realistic with a bit of weathering......what ye think? Quote
jhb171achill Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 A 201 in Black and Tan...... Photoshop, anyone? Quote
aclass007 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I don't think I ever saw a cleaner 201! I might try to get to Ballina tomorrow, to see her in the flesh.... Quote
DiveController Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I don't know... I think we forget that IE has failed to keep the locos looking well over the years. We feel like they should not look like this. I mean, the vast majority of us don't try to keep out vehicles in 'weathered' condition for too long at least! Quote
heirflick Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I think that 215 would look a bit more realistic with a bit of weathering......what ye think? well you have to say that she does stand out in the crowd! never mind - it wont be long before shes weathered up a bit! great pics Noel and thanks for posting! Noel Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Morning all, Freshly repainted 215 was allocated to the 0700 Heuston - Cork this morning. Click http://smu.gs/1uJqRzZ The Wanderer. Excellent photos. Do you mind me asking which camera/lens combination you normally use for such railway photos? Edited September 18, 2014 by Noel Quote
thewanderer Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hi Noel, I have a Nikon D90. As for the lens it varies to be honest. The lens I would use most is my Nikkor 18-105mm, f4.5 as they would cover the majority of my photographic needs. But I do have a wide angle lens (great for interior photos) and a telephoto lens as well. The lens I used for that shot this morning was my 35mm prime lens as the light was too bad for the 18-105 lens. If you click on the "I" (Info) button at bottom right of the picture you can bring up the exif data of that picture. So in the case of 215 it was Camera NIKON CORPORATION NIKON D90 ISO 1600 Focal Length 35mm (52mm in 35mm) Aperture f/3.5 Exposure Time 0.0015s (1/640) Name DSC_3897.JPG Size 1328 x 2000 Date Taken 2014-09-18 07:46:34 Date Modified 2014-09-18 08:21:43 File Size 2.04 MB JPEG Quality fine Flash flash did not fire Metering pattern Exposure Program manual Exposure Bias 0 EV Exposure Mode manual Light Source unknown White Balance auto Digital Zoom 1.0x Contrast 0 Saturation 0 Sharpness 0 Subject Distance Range unknown Sensing Method one-chip color sensor Color Space sRGB Quote
