Good job I don't live over there so!

I doubt they would even let you in.

I've had it a few times, but not with actual coppers (yet). One of the problems is that the definition of 'public place' is very woolly here - it can depend upon whether they think it's public or not. It can be impossible for the ordinary person to know if they are in a public place or not, or whether it is a highway or private land - and the 'security' person hassling them often doesn't really know either. I had a part in a film and we accidentally filmed in a non-public part of a shopping area - the bouncer got very agitated about it - we got him to define where the boundary was and filmed on the edge of it - there was no real issue, just him being a jobsworth.

I had a bloke run out of a school and tell me that I couldn't take a photograph of it without paying for the right. I was on the highway and he was talking rubbish. I suggested that he write down his (illegal) demand for money from me, whilst I explained the law on obstruction of the highway. This went on for a while - I still have a picture somewhere of him trying to jump in the way of my picture of the building.

Don't know what a "ska head " is ! But I noticed the edit function on here is a great facility !!

Google is your friend. I duly edited it to protect your sensitive soul (honestly thought the swear filter would block it out)! :)

I was Fran, and I did to much too young because I took one step beyond. I had a nice mirror in the bathroom though.

Evening all,

Images from Saturday and Sunday have now been uploaded to http://smu.gs/1B56a1T

Featuring:

- Galway line trains at Portarlington.

- Heuston Station.

- LUAS Red Line disruption due to the water march protest.

- Some random images from Sunday while onboard the RPSI Marble City to Kilkenny.

The RPSI Marble City images have been uploaded to the Railtour section of the website at http://smu.gs/1EBwXUK

The Wanderer.

P.S. There was a category 1 near miss with the RPSI Special at the 16 M.P. near Sallins this morning with two trespassers who had cameras. This is now under investigation. May I appeal to all enthusiasts out there to stay safe and stay on the right side of the fence. It will only take an serious incident to occur with an enthusiast special and the R.S.C. and I.E. could ban Steam Specials from the network (in a worst case scenario). I for one, and I'm sure you agree with me, don't want to see that happening.

There's no need to be smart Kevin, he's just offering a point of view. One as a fledgling photographer I do agree with. I dont want IE to start cracking down on us all.

As one amateur photographer to another, Fran, I understand where you're coming from and I already know you hold this point of view. This thread has become somewhat lively and entertaining in my absence but since we're back on topic, let's keep moving in that direction.

You can find yourself in this situation - it's often about them "being seen to be doing something" and then being reluctant to back down when their lack of lawful authority is challenged.

Very true, Jim. Many may not know what is codified or has no basis in legal process or statute.

There's a reason why he is called the Wanderer Chevron! Trust me - it's a lot of excitement!

Yes hurricane we've had some adventures out and about...some good, some bad and some very worrying! :)

Here is today's latest update: Good to meet Heirflick at last!

An hour at Portarlington in search of a delayed DFDS Liner paid off as the train turned up within ten minutes of arriving at the station.

743 was a pure fluke Chevron - bearing in mind the first HOBS train was due into Newbridge at 0850-ish and 743 didn't leave (should be ahead of the HOBS) Kildare until 0911! The rest, you hear things around and just hope for the best!
