Guest hidden-agenda Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The stuff you build is 1st class mate and certainly not available in a shop. Quote
Dave Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 That is truly artistic work, it is just stunning. I would love one, I'm afraid to ask how much Quote
Dave Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I couldn't put it on my layout, it would have to go on a shelf in my lounge! Its just too good. Quote
islandbridgejct Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I love the way the brickwork seems to glow from under all the smoke and dirt. I don't think I've seen better modelling anywhere. Alan Quote
Sulzer201 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Anthony it looks amazing as usual. It's some project and you must get great enjoyment from that layout. What did you use for the ground cover and grass in the fields? - they look great and what trees are they on the hillside? Keep the pics going. Tommy Quote
Dave Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Wow, that looks fantastic Anthony, I love the weathered track. Cracking job Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 A few photos for you guys on the progress on level 3 and also the first test run up the helix and some turntable action Under Construction The site for the station I decided to go with curved platforms The end of the passing loop heading out wards and of to the left is the helix and entrance into the loco shed The starting loop entrance on the inward line which runs along the back of the sidings the sidings and container terminal Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) 220 on the turntable I've upgraded the marker lights and headlights to LEDs as I noticed on the real 201's in my local station had a lot brighter lights than the model portrayed. 220 runs a TCS A6X decoder. RedRich Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Anthony I can really see the benefits of the Helix when I see it in action, especially on a layout with huge amounts of rolling stock. I like it, things are moving a lightning speed in the build and I can see the layout in it's entirety being real fun and very interesting to operate., which is exactly as it should be. Rich, Quote
gm171 kk Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Wow, that goods yard looks really well, and so does the bus depot I spy in the backround. How did you make the concrete? Quote
ttc0169 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Brilliant Anthony, those market lights are a big improvement on the loco, I found them to be poor on 220, The beast of Ballykay is looking great in the background also.... Quote
enniscorthyman Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Jesus that is stunning, the helix looks great and your work is showing how much you have put into it. Quote
irishthump Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Fantastic Anto! Great to see that monster engine shed bursting at the seems with locos... Can I ask which container wagons you're using in the pics with the crane? Quote

How close are these to the IE wagons in use today? Quote
BosKonay Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Main difference is length. The dapol take 40 foot containers whereas the Irish prototypes take 45. You wouldn't really notice it tho Quote

201bhoy Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Hey Anto, sorry to bring up an old thread... I love the container yard, just wondering where you got the crane? Quote
Robert Davies Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) Hey Anto, sorry to bring up an old thread... I love the container yard, just wondering where you got the crane? It looks like a Walthers Mi-Jack kit to me... Though I must admit I've never seen one as nicely finished as Anthony's. If your yard is smaller I recommend searching out a Kibri Kalmar crane, or the similar Walther Kalmar crane - they look like bloomin' ginormous forklifts. -Rob ps Be careful if you searching for the above - most of them are available in 'N' too! Edited October 14, 2012 by Robert Davies Another thought! Quote

BosKonay Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Anthony - that just looks so 'right' it's scary!!! You should post some how-to's so us mortals can have a go! Stunning work - looks immediately 'right' (tho I did have to double take at the signal box on the cliff face!! ) Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 I will do a how to when I start the next section. The signal box was cut in half so that it would clear the wall when the trapdoor is opened. All the above corner was done over a weekend from start to finish. Quote
201bhoy Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Beautiful! If you get the time, could you put up some pictures on the freight yard? Quote
