I've been struggling away building my first brass kit locomotive this past 2 months. With some outside help and advice I've got to this stage which leaves all the fiddly bits to finish.

I'd be calling it muscular rather than elegant.

Maybe if your talking about the SG3 class! They were absolute powerhouses!

Good luck with the kit Kirley. My model of No.176 was built in Hong Kong by a guy who had never seen a seat loco (although he'd bit lots of kits!). That said, mine doesn't like 2 ft curves, so make the centre axle with lateral play if you can.

You've reminded me to give it another go on the layout - I think it's languishing in a box!

Got a bit further in the build, all the fiddly bits completed.

Now for final clean up and wash before applying the first primer coat.

Pickups and decoder to be fitted before testing the locomotive and tender.

The beginning of the end is in sight.

Can i ask where do you get the etched primer and do you spray it on?

I just use Halfords etched primer spray and leave it for a few days to allow it to fully dry.

That's cool it looks amazing

I have this project in mind also, I have a Fouler F4 to do the same thing but cant bring myself with a knife to do it- the F4 is cool itself!

This is my first post on this forum and it does my heart good to see a beautiful loco like this, that passed through Omagh many times in its day. I have uploaded a picture of No. 40 arriving in Omagh. Its pure class, well done!GNR047.jpg

Welcome to the forum Tony. I knew Omagh Station very well, living on the Tamlaght Road and spending a lot of time around Railway Terrace and the Dromore Road. Our playground included the closed but still intact Enniskillen line. I always admired your model of Omagh Station.
