  1. Some more of the Boat done a few months back. Electrics are done and the Smoke Vapouriser works a treat
  2. Bought about 6 of these from Marks when I worked there, these were like hens teeth for a bit and then Hobby Boss bring out there one and now Revell have a new tool out shortly so these are old hat now. These models arent the best some big errors that if you were an F.3 jock you would spot them a mile off but any way these were finished over the past year to get the Mojo working again. These are WIP shots I have yet to take some of the finished weathered articles. One is in 111 Sqn and the other in Air Warfare Centre (Red Tail) and the tiger one is Italian Air Force. These Jets are Sadly missed now.
  3. Fab stuff, my Dad worked on this in the sixties and has some great stories so a visit will be in the cards. Interesting little railway for sure.
  4. Nice visit today with possibly my last ever visit to Portlaoise!, Picked up some rolling stock but sucumed to some good prices on an Airfix Shackleton and Meteor F.8, Could of bought a load of plastic but trying to ween myself of it! Went to the hobby Den in Kildare , saw 071's @ E140 and 201's at good prices also but more plastic bought.Thats it now until the Victor arrives. Best of luck to all the Graham's and I wish you the best for 2017. Enjoy the slopes and the  Cheer G I'm
  5. Nice photo, Heading to the Hobby Den in Kildare for a look around Saturday am, I hope to pop into portlaoise on the way, hopefully there is a Hornby Q1 lurking about on a shelf!. Sad news that the shop is going although it was off my beaten path I did pick up most of my purchases at shows from the Train Man. Best of luck Seamus for the future you will be missed
  6. I enjoyed the show and had a great day out. I got to hold a cement in the hand under watchful eyes!!, the detail is unreal, Even below the bubble was something to behold, I will have to have incorporate a glass section on the layout to view these from underneath!! Lots to see and some unreal bargains to be had. Came away with about €270s worth of Baccy rolling stock for €120. Missed a nice Hornby 2P at a bargain price on the Train Mans stand which would of been sweet to double head with my West Country's!~(at some stage!) Well done on the Cafe set up, Dare I say it turned a few quid as it seemed to be was quite popular during the day I was there. It was great to be able to plonk down and have a chat with some fellow modellers and have a decent sup of scald and a bit of nosh. the Ladies catering put up a fine show.
  7. Ah look whats at No.9 Is this for Exhibitors only or do the Joe Public bring there own?
  8. Flipping heck I enjoyed that link. Thanks for Sharing.
  9. Hi all, I friend of mine spotted a planning notice in one of the local rags advising of the request to Demolish the Signal box in Kent Station. I imagine this is the one at the east end of the station? Any truth in this at all? Sad to see another part of this station disappear. cheers George
  10. Drones are the issue that has most likely started this as you can fly them almost anyhwere but the Regs will cover all unmanned Flights including aircraft which in all fairness rarely hit the dizzying height of 500ft. Most Aircraft flying are from Prepared fields and Full Size most likely would be aware and clubs have rules and such. Killer if this does get implemented. I have a done myself. I flew it 3 times, Does nothing for me. Planes much more fun. Yep a CE mark on a Spit just wont look right!
  11. If only I saved up a few more sponds.... https://www.daft.ie/waterford/houses-for-sale/lismore/the-station-house-glencairn-lismore-waterford-1318851/
  12. Hi all, Prototype document on possible future rules on RC Drone and Aircraft is linked below. Should these come in then this will end the RC Journey for Myself with Draconian rules and Regs for Hobbiests like myself. Some may even say this clears the Skies for the big guns like Amazon and other delivery drone systems that may come about in the future. Page 14 withing the EASA link defines the Categories where your Models may fall into. https://www.easa.europa.eu/system/files/dfu/UAS%20Prototype%20Regulation%20final.pdf for those that prefer Video My Stuff will come into Cat A3 so In effect if this come in all the stuff I have will be illegal to fly and will be defunct. UA operations in subcategory A3 shall: (a) be performed with a class 3 UAS placed on the market: (1) complying with the product requirements defined in Appendix I.5; (2) displaying the CE marking and the class 3 identification label on the UA in a visible and practical manner; and (3) that has not been modified in a way that breaches compliance with the requirements in Appendix I.5; (b) be conducted: (1) up to a height of 150 m (500 ft) above ground level, unless otherwise determined by the competent authority for the operational area based on airspace considerations; (2) within a range such that the remote pilot, or a UA observer who is situated within the VLOS of the remote pilot, maintains VLOS; clear and effective communication shall be established between the remote pilot and the UA observer; (3) with a minimum horizontal distance of 20 m from uninvolved persons if flying a rotorcraft, or 50 m otherwise; and (4) with active and up-to-date geofencing and electronic identification systems; © and be carried out by a remote pilot: (1) being at least 14 years old; (2) carrying evidence of the competence achieved after having received training provided by training service providers in general knowledge of aviation and airspace, principles of operation of UA, risk management, ethical airmanship, data protection, privacy protection and environmental protection according to standards or alternative qualifications accepted by EASA; (3) having the appropriate familiarisation or practical training to minimise the risk to third parties in the specific conditions and operational environment, following best practices.
  13. Could of given you a wave from the office noel as you passed by. Well under the radar that one was. Makes a change from the everyday spam cans.
  14. A 201 is heading back to Cork now this am. Just passing Fota @ 1031hrs. Now to do a bit of work
  15. Just seen a Black 071 hauling a set of Cravens back to the City. Not sure what the occasion is.
  16. A quick check of the book Parting Shot by Norman Johnston reveals a Couple of photographs of Orange Cements and they are exactly like that, Very light coating of cement dust. . Most likely only on the rails a short while.
  17. ah ha the pennys dropped! Imagine weathering 500 odd of those...blimey!
  18. If It adds STG20 a wagon (as per his website) then Pristine will do here. I imagine bulk would be a bit cheaper. Factory weathering does not really cut the mustard. You could retire Early with the prices being charged on the Mercig site:confused: Must get a 71 myself next.
  19. Sound decoder wise, I'd go for the Murphy Models sound decoder. It's a Loksound but I find they perform better. I had both, I got rid my Murphys ones as the Soundguys one just sounded much better. Performance wise well they both did the same thing (this was before the Realdrive came in and I have not got one of those yet).
  20. Quality stuff. The Coaches look Superb.
  21. Just onto Mark there and it is still DCC fitted with directional headlights.
  22. check post 41 here to see what this was like when the model was received, hopefully the pics work. heres a pic from the old forum.
  23. Have this one on the go right now. Nice Pressie for the Birthday from the father. Hope to have a smoke Genny installed once I figure out the wiring as I need to have it the fan wired to the throttle to produce smoke once the throttle is raised. Every thing is placed right not and not glues expect for the wooden bow plate.
  24. Should be DCC'd and Head lights as well. Mark is tumbling headlong into O gauge hence the sale!
  25. Look at Youghal!!, Every Saturday I drive past that place imagining the droning of 141, 121s on the turntable and the hussle an bussle of the Holiday traffic. so sad to see it as it is now. I would be happy to see a unit going down there just to see the line back in action but it will never be the same. Most likely the old station building would remain fenced off cause the cracks all over it and a bus shelter put up.
