    I went on Saturday, not my normal day but my son came up from Plymouth this time so Saturday it was. It didn’t appear to be as crowded as previous years but a lovely day out nonetheless. It’s just a shame it is so expensive. Parking in Birmingham International station helped keep the cost down a bit. Stephen

    Following its closure to passengers in the late 1930’s, Broadstone was a loco and wagon maintenance facility until it’s closure in the early 1960’s. Apart from the removal of track in the passenger station, how much else was removed prior to final closure. It would make a rather interesting model loco depot. Stephen

    Imagine, if you will, how different things might have been if the Cork City Railway had been built along the lines of the link line in Dublin ie a double track elevated railway, allowing a better connection between the railways of west Cork and the rest of the network. A good prototype for a model railway me thinks. Stephen

    If the Cork city railway had been elevated rather than at ground level, there’s no telling what might have happened, all sorts of connecting services with maybe the west Cork lines staying open. Oh, the power of imagination. Stephen

    It’s the inconsistency that gets me. The first time I bought from John in NZ, I had to pay a whole load of import, for want of a better expression, but the second time there was nothing to pay. Either way, the models were worth the wait. Thanks John. Stephen
