  1. Quick search on Flickr throws up images such as these, old and new, which in combination might be useful? Some useful detail might be found from the NLI also (you can add the color later) http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000303862
  2. Nice job, Peter. It's come a long way in a year. Looking well
  3. 2405-2418 were built as 39 S buffets in 1953-4 and 2419-2422 in 1956 in response to the introduction of railcars about 1951 2402 , a dining car with a larger kitchen and hence only 18 seat appeared in 1961 2403 a full kitchen car to cater to the Radio trains followed in 1964. The second kitchen car 2407 followed in 1969 converted from the earlier buffet 2407 of 1953. Photos, yes please!
  4. The 70s/80s is a favorite period of mine although I have to say that the previous 2 decades were very interesting also. I think people tend to model what they know or have been associated with in some way. Anecdotally, older modellers seem more likely to model an earlier period than younger ones. Over the last few years I developed an interest in 1950s stock because I became more aware of that period (which predates me) through the site and books and that interest was maintained by the sheer variety of stock and profound changes occurring during that period. It is certainly easier to model what is available rtr as no modelling skills are required for rolling stock at least. Some on the site returned to modelling after many years absent after happening upon a new Irish outline MM diesel. The periodic availability of rtr models may stimulate modelers to model earlier periods so hopefully some of those may become available at some point but I'm not holding my breath.
  5. Lot of wobble the cream and blue to my eye especially the lead coach, although there is definitely some on the orange also.
  6. This is a huge disappointment and PitA. I got a little out of sequence and thought it was going one be project 3 but #4 would have been fine. Personally I wanted a couple of rakes in Supertrain. Of all the models so lamented on this site. Absolutely agree, it's' not going to happen. As for Push/pull .... I'm not sure. That being the case, wouldn't we be more likely to have seen ballasts in original CIE livery, 12 orange bubbles and six with the black chassis, Taras in blue initially rather than bauxite, and I doubt that Supertrain would be preferred above the later IC livery

  8. Jim Poots did an E class but I have no idea if he has any intention of a re-run at some point. I would certainly be in the market for a couple of Es also
  9. Given the safety record, these must certainly be ambulance coaches on the Knock special? You're sure about the year then?
  10. The one on eBay was 0141A which is the preserved version, newer LED lights etc repainted into original livery. Wrenneire’s 188 is probably more what you after
  11. @jhb171achillSo just too clarify this is the post '55 lighter green?
  12. The were all delivered in silver along with 4w sorting vans/TPOs (iirc we discussed them before). I have some photos but don't know who to credit but someone will put one up I'm sure
  13. Correct, HLV in green in Mayners This is the photo I had in mind (thanks, Ernie) but BOTH are luggage vans, one in silver and one in green. Luggage vans ('hooded vans') has a central pair of door whereas the HLV had TWO pairs of doors fore and aft of the centrally located boiler with exhaust vents on the roof of the HLV. This is best seen in Ernie's second photo where the third van from the loco on right is a HLV in green (double doors, exhaust barely visible because of the angle) followed by the silver LV next to the BnT. I believe the HLV still had capacity for 3T of luggage and were probably used year round even when heating was not required and can be seen in many photos taken in June/July. However as you say, may have to be taken in for maintenance before the autumn again.
  14. There is a photo in my mind of both a HLV and a hooded van with other stock. One is in silver (the HLV I think) and the luggage van in green. I thought it was Ernie's but I couldn't find. Anyway, the 1962 IRRS tour to Ardnacrusha has a green eau de nil lined luggage van (Rails through the West p12). John's photo above is of the HLV (nice photo)
  15. Good info GSV and thanks for the photo Wrenn. Any others photos?
  16. I'm glad there is a fix. That's some of the worst wobbling I've seen in a while. I have 6 sitting somewhere but have have not had a chance to run them so fingers crossed. Otherwise, very nice cosmetically but running is a must
  17. Are there any plans to produce 12 individual numbers in the orange bubbles?
  18. Hit 'Edit Post' then use the third icon form the right, then upload from a url or computer. Check the local upload checkbox so it is uploaded onto the IRM server and not stored on a 3rd party site that may restrict use in the future like PukeBucket did recently
  19. I'm sure you'll get to the root of all this after a thorough investigation
  20. Better now than when the layout is in it! That would be soul destroying.
  21. Good luck to all! We were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey, my in-laws in Tampa by Irma and now my parents by Ophelia all in one year! It's moving quickly and into colder waters so hope for the best
