  1. Doubt Stobart's marketing team would decide to use 'Union Jack' colours here. I reckon they would go green, like the road fleet, which would also avoid clashing with Translink's blue liveries. If they also ditched that stupid '...the Engine' name thing, all the better. Ah, pipe dreams...
  2. Been following this with interest on the blog... superb!
  3. As Warbonnet pointed out, the Grand Duchy of Baden State Railway used the 5ft 3in gauge. More recently, there would have been a length or two of 5ft 3in gauge track at the Siemens plant in Leipzig to accommodate the 8100 Dart refurb...
  4. Spoil wagons... used in the construction of a road (M1? Can't remember right now...). Rakes of them were topped and tailed by WT class dream locos (Jeeps), which by that stage were the last steam engines in use on any mainline in the UK or Ireland. I'm guessing they had already fulfilled their original purpose by the time the photo was taken, hence 'retain' being painted on the side of the three in that photo.
  5. Heard that the 18.05 Belfast-Dublin service on Thursday was delayed... due to a failed speedometer.
  6. And if they stop running, say it's to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Lockout!
  7. Lovely loco, Richie, but unfortunately that's not the C&L loco. It's a GNR tank.
  8. I can hear knives being sharpened in Westmeath! Would love to see more photos of your Mk1 genny if you have some, FL
  9. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but... fantastic work! Lovely atmospheric photographs, too!
  10. That looks tasty! Excellent work.
  11. That's one hell of a video! Thanks for posting.

How's a band going to stop them?
  13. Are you sure you're not confusing that pic with the photo he posted of the tank loco getting its tubes washed out in Broadstone?
  14. Ah, but CMEs don't count in this thread...
  15. That looks more like Inchicore to me, Fran!
  16. The journalist and Eurovision songwriter John Waters was a clerk at Castlerea station.
  17. Movie shoot?
  18. The Shell Mex wagon at Dunsandle has identical plates, except someone attacked it with a sledgehammer at some point... http://m.flickr.com/photos/garfieldsghost/5278053247/lightbox/
  19. That's a great pic, Dave... love it!
  20. I don't know... it all depends on whether or not they paint the Death Star UTA green!
  21. That's the Dunsandle engine...
  22. Great news! Union Pacific have announced they've taken back ownership of Big Boy 4014 and intend to return it to steam within the next five years: http://www.railwayage.com/index.php/mechanical/locomotives/up-a-return-to-steam-for-big-boy-4014.html
  23. Yeah, the plan is to get another in blue and one more in multi-service!
  24. Yep, it is.
  25. This arrived in the post today via eBay... About time I got one of these. I love the En Voyage livery and it suits the BB 67000s particularly well, I think. Must fix that hand rail...
