Opening days are limited currently, they are available on our website - www.downrail.co.uk.

The ‘new’ locos will not be directly accessible by the public. There aren’t any non-family events added at the moment other than our diesel running day, but some will be added soon.

Thanks so much

Also as u are one of many at downpatrick planning and placing new track, was there ever a plan to have the route expanded up north of the former line to crossgar?

No, that has never been on our plans.

What locos are in Moyasta at present.? Passed that way couple weeks ago and could see a 121 and 141 I think, but I believe there are two others?  Was driving at the time and my better half didn't appreciate me having my eyes on the trains instead of the road so I couldn't get a great look .

Who owns 015? I thought it was the ITG too?

That I don't know. That's my understanding of the situation anyway, I stand to be corrected.

A3 and 152 are behind the other locos so you can’t see them from the road

Total discrace, someone should do something to save them

I don't think ITG have anywhere else that can store them. Their place in Carrick-on-Suir is oversubscribed as it is.

The semi-wrecked stock makes a suitably intimidating backdrop for films; you may have seen the somewhat violent Calm With Horses

Trouble is, there’s no someone!

There simply isn’t sufficient interest in this country. If it was England, and A3 was a derelict Deltic, money, volunteers and more and more money would come out of the woodwork!

Just can’t believe that nobody will save these poor engines. I will write some strongly-worded letters and will post if I get any updates

If you want to make a difference, donate some money or put in some time on the restoration projects. What will writing letters achieve?

Ok, Sorry, I had looked at the content rather than the identity of the person posting.
As someone who has given close to a thousand man days and tens of thousands of pounds/euros to railway preservation projects I get particularly wound up by people saying ‘someone’ should do ‘something’!
I confess my involvement in Irish preservation is limited to a weekend working on 226 with Aidan Brosnan at Carrick, and spending a chunk of money on railtours and entrance fees at various sites.

Irish preservation has just as many lamenting the lack of "somebody"'s as the Isle of Brexit has also!
