ttc0169 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 A typically rural irish scene well captured there Eamonn, I've no doubt it will be the star attraction for young and old at the vintage show Good luck with it and well done. Quote

enniscorthyman Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 The work bench at the moment has me looking at projects that are on the long finger. The MIR 121 needs a little work on the paint work and the sw 1500 chassis will be looked at as regards will it be of any use at all.The MIR 071 has a decent sd9 chassis and I am thinking of doing the plastic card upgrade. The Wickham inspection car needs a 35mm black to get her going and more paint and bits to finish her off. I have the SSM brass detail kits to do 4 more esso tankers so these will keep me going for a few weeks. Quote
RedRich Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 The modelling season is in full swing for you Eamonn. That's some fine work. Aren't the 121's a smashing looking loco. Rich, Quote

Rich, The 121 kit is quite good Rich and the resin kit was A vast improvement on the white metal kit. I have yet to find a decent chassis to run her. The athearn SW 1500 I have is not great. Roll on the Murphy version. Quote

If you can afford it pick up one of the newer Athearn Ready ro Roll SW1500s, they have canon motors and as a result they run superbly. Quote

enniscorthyman Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 I got my twin ballast plough vans from SSM today, along with the 42 bogie flats.First I need to finish my final 3 oil tanks which were started this weekend. As work will be busy this next few weeks,I might have to leave the new Kits till after Christmas, not to mention the Wickham inspection car that needs to be finished.I just bought two 42 flats to see how they go. Quote
richrua Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 The ploughvan looks like something I could manage as an intro to brass kits. Quote
richrua Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 what are the tanker wagons based on? another thing I might try Quote
enniscorthyman Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 what are the tanker wagons based on? another thing I might try The tankers are the standard Dapol East oil wagons that SSM have a brass kit to make them Irish. It's well worth your while Rich giving these a go if it's your first time doing brass.I am using superglue and it works fine. enniscorthyman Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 A small update on my 42 flat build. Hard to get time to get out to the shed to do a bit of work, however I have the underside and main body glued together and one bogie is ready for bogie sides. Quote
Weshty Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Looking great Eamon, and I see you cleared space for the bogie wheels on the outer part of the spine. Don't forget to clear space on the inner part as well! Quote
